TIA and I know this has come up regularly and I did try to search but I currently have a Pentair Dynamo 1 1/2 HP pump thats leaking at the seal and have changed the seals twice so far. It works but starts to leak after a couple months. I have a 300 lb sand filter and was wondering what would be the beat pump to buy since things have changed since 2011 when I bought this one. I have it hooked up 220v. Lady at Leslies pool suggested a Pentair Super Pump and they have 20% off today. Price was $720 and like $576 with discount but want to make sure I get a good pump for my needs. I run 4 hours in day and 4 hours at night. Thanks

I would suggest you call Inyopools and discuss your needs. A two speed or even a Variable Speed pump will save you lots of electricity cost.

Thanks, I will look into this place.
Only two pumps i am seeing for above ground
Dynamo Pump 1-1/2 HP 2 Spd. (no cord) - 340206
PowerFlo Matrix Pump 1.5 HP Dual Speed - SP15932S

They are both only 115v and i currently have 220v connected. I also have a timer so not sure if they can be connected to that.

Well after reading good reviews, I purchased a Pentair SuperFlo 2HP Energy Efficient 2-Speed Pool Pump 230V | 340044 to replace my 1 1/2 hp Pentair Dynamo single speed for my 27’ above ground.

Great -- you will run it on low speed most of the time.

I believe if you had called InyoPools they would have had other units that were applicable.

Mknauss, Thanks. It may be a small overkill to have a 2 HP, but I figured if I ran on low speed for 8 hours a day, it should work well. From figures I need to get 39 gallons a minute to cycle pool in 8 hours. 16’ of piping from skimmer to pump.

What I usually do is run 4 hours in day and then 4 hours at night.

Received pump but I am being told by local pool place that it is too much for my above ground pool and this is for an inground pool. It runs for about 30 seconds and then shuts off like it is in a bind. 17,200 gallons with 1 1/2” pvc piping and 300 lb sand filter which says filter 63 and backwash 40

What does your filter pressure gauge read when it does run?
Are you starting it on high or low?
Even though it's really big for your pool, it should run without issue. Are you sure it's getting 240 volts as it should?

Bought a single speed 1.5hp Superflow from local pool place since pool was turning slightly green after no filtering for 2 days.$200 more than online prices. Everything is up and running but I may have a dilemma. My sand filter tank show a max pressure of 50 and when running pressure gauge is saying 46. Is that too close? Q-series 22.5” tank, says filter 63 and backwash 40

2hp 2 speed pump I bought online After trying again today is damaged. It will not do anything. Not even pump water to filter. Disputing with online place today that since I installed, they will not take back and I need to deal with Pentair over issue. Called Pentair and they are saying that online place needs to take back since it was just installed and how am I suppose to know if it was good or bad unless I connect it to see. This is turning into a nightmare

Yes it did but I took it off and put another one on to verify and that one shows 40 psi.
