Hi everyone.

Ok I have to decide. Do I paint my trim the same color as my walls or do I do white trim.

My buddy the cabinet maker said all 1 color.

Looking in the net it’s half and half.

I say all the same so as to have the ceiling pop more. Figured if I also have white trim it might take away from the ceiling.

We are doing a light blue/grey color for the walls.

If I did the trim white only the door and base would be white. The corner banding and ceiling banding would be the wall colors. That is the proper way to do it.

Walls are T&G 6 inch shiplap with a 1/4 inch spacing. Ceiling is T&G 5 inch face with bead sapele.

I would really like some opinions. I know there is no right or wrong here. Just wanted to hear what others think.

I got the walls all ready to go. Staple holes filled and sanded. Walls resanded. Everything washed down.

I like the white trim, gives the appearance you spent some time on the fine details with some contrast and depth instead of just painting everything in one shot, like some I have seen painting light switches and receptacles also just to get done quick.

I prefer white.
I have seen trim painted same color as the walls and did not care for it.
I have also seen trim painted same as walls, but a couple of shades lighter or darker, depending on wall color.
With your walls a light color, I would think a shade or two darker.

I would not paint your outlets/switches, there are 4 stock colors to choose from, but assorted colors if you want to spend more

Hey guys I totally wasn’t gonna paint any receptacles are outlets that’s a definite no-no in my book in my house all my trim is an off-color white in what I do in my feelings as I always go the lightest color to match whatever colors on the walls

But with this room the only reason I didn’t consider painting the trim white wood because I didn’t want to take away from the ceiling.

I’m going to grab some diff white paint options now and a few more wall colors for her to pick from.

I say white also. NOTHING is going to take away from that awesome ceiling! Hey I know what you can do. Do on long side white and one long side the same color. Take pics and let us pick from that. Make sure to have the ceiling in the pics.

Kim I was thinking about doing that. My wife said to leave the trim primed only since it’s a white already and she can look at it from there.

I was just Down the shop and ask Dave finisher what he would do and I said I was afraid of taking away from the ceiling if I have too much contrast going on in the room and he said no matter what you do there’s no taking away from that ceiling. Haha. I thought that was pretty funny.

Well 8 hrs later. Getting paint in the slats was brutal! I ended up using art brushing and going inch by inch cause of u didn’t fill it in all the way the white stick out like a sore thumb. Brutal!

I got the first coat on the walls. Deff going with a white trim. Don’t know what shade though. The walls are Benjamin Moore Regal. The color is Colorado Grey. Pics colors r way off cause of lighting. The wood is sucking up paint. I might be doing 3 coats. 40FBEBA5-6543-4ADB-A14E-BB9993B19916.jpeg0E5D48F8-4B69-4F6E-B504-9E477F994572.jpegE8240E7A-F81C-4CA9-A5E7-CA1CF97DE73B.jpeg

Thanks everyone!

Second coat on. I’m very pleased. I’m deff not a great painter but I really took my time to get this right. I think did well with the walls.

Monday I’ll do baseboard for my plumber and when he is done I’ll start on the doors and all my beams forxrest of the building.

Trim will be dove white. It’s a white with the slightest hint of a yellow tone in it. I think it looks better than just straight up white in this case.
