Rip on the rail of my pool

I would rather see you doing a patch that goes from one side to the other over the rail BUT not touching it. It will only be on the vinyl. I worry about the same thing as Brett as those pools do tend to shift/move quite a bit.

Hard to say in words but will try........................see if you can "see" what I am saying..............grab the area where the rip was with your hand. See how you hand goes over the rail from the inside to the outside? Your palm should be on top the vinyl with the heel of your hand on one side and fingers on the other. I am talking about putting something like another patch or GOOD tape there in place of your hand. I would go beyond the patch a bit so it is holding the liner beyond where the rip was.

Can you see what I mean now?

You are suggestng he wrap one patch strip from the inside to the outside past the tear area on both sides.

YES! Glad you understood what I was trying to say. What are your thoughts? Is it worth his while?

Dunno. I don't have experience with repairing liners. If he can do it then the more the better so it will not tear there again. The liner will tear someplace else eventually.

ok, landed a deal on the new intex frame design for $200 going to start a new post inquiring about putting a hayward skimmer on it, the liner is different so wanting input. thanks guys for the help i just decided replacing is better since i found this deal

I would suggest UNDER the seam :)
Some people successfully put the skimmer on the seam, but YMMV
poolaerationreturn.JPG This is our "baby", you can kinda see we have the top of the skimmer "hugging" the seam, but did not cut into the seam (just an idea)
And I would suggest in the middle of the section you put the skimmer in, not on the edge (give it maximum support)
