Riverside, CA - Backyard Overhaul

I have one 300 that is powering every bit of 300 watts and it sure does make a lot of noise... Heat on the other hand, not so much. I would know too since I have to find something warm to snuggle with when I get kicked out of the bedroom :gone:

Brian ur stainless doors are they flush with the stone butted to it or does the stainless overlap on top of stone? I brick is wonky cause they r jumbos and I’m getting worried about a clean install. I know the stainless is suppose to overlap onto brick or finished surface but I’m considering trimmed out the opening in mahogany (or ipe) and butting brick to that so the access doors fit snug over the mahogany.

My my buddy Dave who is my cabinet guy Wants me to to just have him build me mahogany (or ipe) cabinets that we will just butt to with brick. He doesn’t think we should do the stainless cause of the look I have going on with the ceilings I doing and our style. I think he is just jealous he isn’t getting any action in my backyard. LOl

The ipe is really nice. Oil for life only if u want. My ipe will be under cover so no need maintain really.

jim

Sorry Jim, I missed this yesterday. The Stone is proud of the stainless doors. The Stone is very rough and irregular so it would really be a challenge to do it any other way. I'm not a huge fan of doing it this way but there aren't many other options.

I've put the doors in after the Stone before and to me it looked like an afterthought.

Ipe is one of my favorite species of wood. Go for it!

ok so you installed the doors first and then butted the stone to them. so the doors stick out further than the stone a little?

no problem missing it. lots going on. lol

my father just called me and said he has rafters full of top grade 5 inch T&G cedar in various lengths from 10-14 feet. i totally forgot that it was down in my parents basement. i have to get over there with my buddy who is the cabinet guy and see if we have enough to maybe use that even. would be free. lol

ipe is nice all of dave's porches and ceiling outside are made with it. he did my buddy's dock along with his boat house all in ipe last year. it's pretty awesome. huge huge dock and boat house. there is a ton of it.

oh oh my bad. i gotcha! sorry. can i ask what doors u used? do u had to make sure the trim ring around them was embedded back to be even with the stucco. so ur rough openings had to be larger than the doors required rough since you buried the trim ring for them back to be even with the stucco.

or am i totally off on that?

Thanks man. I appreciate the time.

He’s definitely a teacher!! I’m still trying to figure out how we can get him his own YouTube channel so he can share his skillz ...

I’m thinking his channel name should be called - cutyourowndangrafters!

He can end every video by beating the Wanger....

You need some electric rolling screens on the pergola so that they can shade the sun while people are sitting there.

So they blew the budget and now what for the pool surface....paint the gunite  ? I’ve got used paint rollers and buckets if you need them :laughblue:

ODK - Awesome-sauce!!!!

Negative edge on spa....not a fan, but it looks good. I’m sure the homeowner will love it.

I guess the spa would be a reverse negative edge or a knife edge. I'm curious to see how it works... So much that I toyed with the idea of filling the spa up today. If it didn't work right or I didn't like the look, it sure would be a whole lot easier to fix right now.

Last time I talked with them they still said that they're still going with Mediterranean Blue AquaBright. For some reason though I feel like a pebble finish would look better and I'm not really sure why.

I ordered the foam for the fireplace and that should get wrapped up next week. Barring I don't hit the inspector or end up in jail, the pool should be full in a couple weeks.

I have about 3,000 feet of wire to pull tomorrow :uhh:

I want everyone to look at the stone work on the edge of the spa. THAT is how a PRO does it. Notice there are pieces going this way and that way all in a natural flow. AWESOME work! (I do not like when I see it with triangles going up and down all over the place :()

The other stone work looks awesome as well.

I do not envy you the wire pulling!! NOT going to be fun!

Slick!

Can’t wait to see what you pull off when you build your new home. If I tried to build a home, it would look like this -
