Polaris 280 too slow moving and tipping to one side while running

You can try a larger orifice plate in the wall port to adjust RPM. If the water is cold I noticed the hose would get stiff and make mine run strangely. Also, check the inline screen/filter if you have one. It could also be something internal, like a bearing or the impeller.

Inground closing - drain below returns or not?

I blow out and cap the returns and skimmers, shut all the valves, remove all the drain plugs from equipment, and put a solid cover on. That’s about it, never used antifreeze or drained any water.

    When to add Chlorine

I add at around 5:30 pm. That’s when I get off work.

    mouse in the plumbing!

Nope, at the time i had a Polaris pressure side vacuum. The only explanation I could come up with is that maybe it was hung up on the weir door and when I pulled the basket out, it got knocked loose and sucked into the pipe before I got back. I've rescued a few chipmunks this year, but other...

    mouse in the plumbing!

I once found a dead mole... or mouse... (I couldn't tell anymore) in my pump basket. I have no idea how it got there without either getting caught in a skimmer or me seeing it.

    What causes these stains?

Those little acorns fall in my pool all the time. They’ll stain if they sit there for a while, but once you remove them the stain should disappear the next day. That’s how it works for me anyway.

    Problem with SLAM

I didn’t read the entire thread but figured I’d throw out an idea that may or may not have been mentioned. I get a LOT of pollen in the spring time, and also have a line of tall white pines that send needles and seeds all over the place. But have no issues passing OCLTs. Since you mentioned...

    Solar Cover Disintegrated

From what I understand, yes. They should be replaced every few years because they begin to break down. I guess longevity depends on a lot of factors. Initial quality, UV exposure, chlorine exposure, etc.

Underwater light features as an alternative to pool light.

I'm in a similar boat. Old pool, newer liner, no lights. I did recently switch from a pressure side vac to a robot, so I was thinking about trying to use the wall fitting to add a niche-less light.

Too much chlorine? 42 drops of reagent into 10 ml sample and its still dark pink.

You’re using the wrong reagent. You add the powder and then count drops of R-0871. R-0003 is the reagent for measuring CCs

    Pool Volume

I’ve always operated under the idea that “close enough is good enough” Pick one of those volumes. If your chemical additions calculated with that value have the intended effect, you’re good.

Algaecide/Chlorine Bleach for fish tank algae?

Not completely maintenance free, but aside from setting it up and watering the plants I don't see how much maintenance could be involved. I don't have one but I've been looking for an excuse to set one up.

Algaecide/Chlorine Bleach for fish tank algae?

This certainly is in interesting question. Unfortunately I cant help you. Whats in the tank now? just water? or is there aquatic plants? if its just water I would probably drain it and make it into a terrarium just so i didn't have to deal with the water.

    What is your daily dosage?

Lately I've been averaging about a half gallon per day. A SWG sounds nice, but the cost of one for a pool my size coupled with the fairly short season in NJ would mean it would take like 7 years to break even.

    Bad R-0871

I have two bottles of R-0871, one from the Taylor kit and one from TF Test Kits. They produce different sized drops, resulting in about a 1 ppm variability in results.
