Looking for Protective Cover for Pool Filter

I just installed my new Hayward W3DE6020 DE filter. I would like to keep it covered from the elements. I searched online for a cover for it but only found one webpage and it looked a little flakey so I am hesitant. Anyone know where and even if these covers are sold? TIA

Metal Reinforced O Ring Used in the Newer Hayward DE Filters Between the Upper and Lower Housings - Substitute Using Older Style All Rubber O Ring?

The guy at the supply house where I buy my equipment told me that the old all rubber only O ring can be used in place of this new very expensive metal reinforced O ring and it will work just fine. Anyone have any info on whether this is true or not? TIA

When Should A Hayward DE Filter Assembly Be Replaced?

I am using Fiber Clear in my DE filter and the water is amazingly clear like it never was with DE media. That is because Fiber Clear filters down the single digit micron level. No cartridge filter can do that. I am staying with the DE grids.

To Coat or Not To Coat Large O Ring that Goes Between Upper and Lower Filter Housings

I am not sure this is true. Every time I open my filter up there are very small particles of debris on the lip of the upper and lower halves adjacent to the O ring and on the O ring itself. I suspect that a portion of the inboard side of the O ring is indeed exposed to the water in the tank...

To Coat or Not To Coat Large O Ring that Goes Between Upper and Lower Filter Housings

...."once the band clamp is tightened nothing is getting inside there...." Actually there is plenty getting inside there..... most filters are full of tiny little "rocks" that are picked up by the surface cleaner (older plaster pools probably pick up more - at least that is where I suspect most...

To Coat or Not To Coat Large O Ring that Goes Between Upper and Lower Filter Housings

I believe that one of the reasons that the Hayward DE filters fail to seal up at the interface between the upper and lower halves is that every time the band clamp is installed and tightened up it is possible that it actually removes some the the mating surfaces on the top and bottom tank...

To Coat or Not To Coat Large O Ring that Goes Between Upper and Lower Filter Housings

I recently installed a new O ring on my Hayward DE6020 filter. In doing so I thoroughly cleaned the O ring mating surfaces on the upper and lower housing to ensure that no debris was present prior to re-assembling. Although I wiped with a dry cloth those surfaces there was still some Magic...

When Should A Hayward DE Filter Assembly Be Replaced?

Thanks to all who helped me with my decision. Old faithful lives on...................... The parts on these older filters are so much less than the new ones. The parts for the new filters are outrageous.

When Should A Hayward DE Filter Assembly Be Replaced?

I have a Hayward DE6020 Filter that was installed when the pool was put in in 2004. The filter works great and there are no leaks. The filter has been covered with sunshade material that is used to screen out the sun and UV rays since 2009. I can get a good deal on a brand new exact...

Changing from a DE6020 filter to the DE7220

Thanks for the Reply Jim, I only ask because I have the opportunity to pick up a DE7220 filter housing for a good price. My filter housing is about 20 years old. I have always kept it protected from the sun and still looks good. I thought if I had an opportunity to replace it I would. I...

Changing from a DE6020 filter to the DE7220

I am wondering what if any negatives there would be to going from the DE6020 filter to the DE7220 other than it would require more media on cleanings and the grids would cost a little more than with the DE6020.

Using a patio heater to keep pool equipment from freezing up when power goes out

Just as a point in reference. Last year here in texas the temperatures got well below freezing, in the teens for more than 24 hours. The power was out in many cases for more than 2 days (out in Fort Worth). My son lives out there and has a pool and his power was out for 3 days. He did not...

Using a patio heater to keep pool equipment from freezing up when power goes out

That's all fine if you have a power source, the grid but if the power goes off and you do not have an alternate source of power such as a gas generator to keep it running then.................

Using a patio heater to keep pool equipment from freezing up when power goes out

Thanks, yes I am completely familiar with my pool equipment as I do all the servicing myself. I have replaced the pump, motor installed new plumbing, do my own filter cleaning, installed new heater capacitor etc etc. so I am very familiar with all the drain plugs.
