    Problems with reagent R-0003

I’ve used this kit since 2013…. The five drops of r-0003 have always given me at least a minimal pink color that 1 drop of r-0871 would clear up, measuring .5 cc’s. Can you have 0 cc’s with visible algae? That’s what I had with the bottle I asked them to replace.

    Problems with reagent R-0003

I purchased a new bottle of R-0003 at the beginning of the season and the bottle is clear rather than yellow like my previous bottle and there is no change after adding my 5 drops to check for CC's. I contacted TF-test kits and (after much explaining of my issue) they sent out a replacement...

    Muriatic acid shelf life

Good to know! My dad passed away several years ago so not sure what he was even using it for. It’s actually the in-laws pool that needs it so we will just transfer it here instead of taking it to hazardous waste disposal.

    Muriatic acid shelf life

We found muriatic acid when cleaning out our parents garage. We have no idea how old it is but it’s at least several years. Our pH just so happens to be high but I don’t know if the muriatic acid is safe to use. Or maybe that’s not even a thing? Does it go bad?

    Sudden excessive chlorine loss!!!

Hello all....Just wanted to give an update and thank you for the moral support throughout my frustration. We passed our OCLT and quarter is clearly "tails" in the deep end! Iron stain is slowly returning so water is not as pretty but i'm not sure i want to address that right now as it is...

    Sudden excessive chlorine loss!!!

Mother in law added 2 gallons 12.5% chlorine at noon today since we wouldn’t be home until later. Tested when we got home tonight: FC 11 CYA 30. Hubby was 2nd set of eyes for cya and confirmed 30. This confirms shock level to be 12. Crazy we are still burning through chlorine this...

    Sudden excessive chlorine loss!!!

OCLT shows loss of 2ppm between 10:00 PM last night and 7:30 this morning. Headed to the store to buy bleach since I will be gone most of today and the pool store is not open yet. I'll report back with pics of CYA test later this afternoon.

    Sudden excessive chlorine loss!!!

tekgeek I have been SLAMing since Wednesday. That's why I'm confused, FC loss is increasing. I'm confident my CYA is not greater than 40, if anything it's less. I will check back tomorrow after OCLT and let you know what happens. Hopefully we are on the home stretch!

    Sudden excessive chlorine loss!!!

"Confident" is relative... lol... I was more confident a month ago when I was pretty sure it was below 20. I seemed to be able to maintain the pool at 3ppm FC per day but now not sure what happened.

    Sudden excessive chlorine loss!!!

Current readings: CYA 40 FC 16 CC .5 pH 7.0 TA 90 Pool has been looking great since initial SLAM upon opening. Last month performed AA treatment for iron staining and it has been gorgeous. After ridding the pool of the iron stain I added CYA and currently it is testing at 40 and using about...

Pleading for help after AA treatment

Thanks for responding.... It’s so frustrating. I do monitor the ph and fc everyday. So strange that the pH was maintains and then all of a sudden jumped. I’ve got it back down to 7.2. Do you prefer Jacks pink stuff or metal magic. Someone recommended metal magic on a thread...

Pleading for help after AA treatment

Problem is we don’t know where it’s coming from....! We don’t have well water. Can I just put poly fill in the skinner basket. I’ve researched but all I read is that it is not easily filtered out.

Middle of June I performed the AA treatment following instructions here on the forum: Thursday Allowed Chlorine to drop to zero Added Polyquat 60 dropped pH to 7.2 Added 2lbs of AA, left on recirculate Added 2 qts Pink Stuff Water was gorgeous...
