    Upcoming zero alkalinity acid wash

Yes. No drain, just MA. The PB just refers to it as an "acid wash".

    Upcoming zero alkalinity acid wash

I'll definitely make sure I document exactly how they perform the acid wash, what instructions they give me, and I'll report back. Heck, I may just record the whole fiasco like I did when they initially opened my pool and showed me how everything worked.

    Upcoming zero alkalinity acid wash

That's pretty good advice. I was just trying to avoid having to clean up their mess afterwards. I guess the best thing to do is just let them do their thing, do what they tell me after, and let them be responsible for the outcome.

    Upcoming zero alkalinity acid wash

Preface: I know this isn't a preferred method to deal with bad plaster installation, but it's a precursor for me for ultimately demanding a chip-out and replaster. My pool was finished Oct 31, 2017. Within a week or two I noticed the plaster had white "splotchy" spots and uneven coloring. The...

Why am I constantly chasing my pH

Ok, that makes sense. Its not a rise in TA that's causing a rise in pH. It's a high TA that is allowing for a more unstable pH? So dropping my TA to 50 or 60 might mitigate some of the instability in pH? And I'll just have to counter the increase in TA when adding fill water, before it has a...

Why am I constantly chasing my pH

How is that so, if the pH of the fill water is 7.5? I'm not doubting you, I just don't understand the relationship. I'm a pool noob. I know MA lowers pH and TA. I know aerating will raise pH, but not TA. I had no idea raising TA would also raise pH.

Why am I constantly chasing my pH

Fill water TA is ~200. Tested pool TA a few days ago and its holding steady at 90.

Why am I constantly chasing my pH

For the first two months my pool was open, my pH was a constant 7.5. Ever since I added salt and started chlorinating with the SWG, I've been chasing my pH. Every 2-3 days, I find my pH at 7.8-8.0, and add muriatic acid to bring it back down to 7.4. In the beginning I thought it was due to...

    Footprints appearing in my plaster

Here are some pictures of what I'm dealing with. Like I said, most of it started appearing within the first month after filling. The footprint (and others) appeared over last weekend. Any chance the footprints could be from someone getting in the pool after applying lotion to their feet? I'm...

    Footprints appearing in my plaster

I test with the TF-100. I went to the pool store today to check for metals. They said none. The rest of their numbers were garbage.... I just started my SWG for the first time last Thursday and have not installed or intended to install the mineral cartridge.

    Footprints appearing in my plaster

FC: 6 CC: 0 pH: 7.8 - consistently around 7.5, but we got a lot of rain over the weekend TA: 80 CH: 350 CYA: 60 Salt: 3500 No metals Phosphates: 200 (not that it matters)

    Footprints appearing in my plaster

Our pool was finished Oct 31st last year. We went with an Onyx color Ansylbrite Quartz Finish. Over the 1st month I didn't like how the plaster was curing. It developed light grey/white streaks and splotches in a few different areas. Before the pool was closed, Nov 30th, the builder agreed I...

Tried calculating pool volume based on FC change

Alrighty. I need to up my TA 10ppm, so tomorrow I'll add some baking soda based on a 30,000gal volume and see what I end up with. One way or another, I'll narrow this down!

Tried calculating pool volume based on FC change

It's been about 32 hours since I added salt. The SWG is showing 3.5gpl and my test shows 3600ppm. That's where I want to be, but not where I expected to be as I started at 600ppm, added 640lbs of salt, and pool math said that'd put me at 2850ppm. Any chance it's still too early to do a reliable...
