Our pool was finished Oct 31st last year. We went with an Onyx color Ansylbrite Quartz Finish. Over the 1st month I didn't like how the plaster was curing. It developed light grey/white streaks and splotches in a few different areas. Before the pool was closed, Nov 30th, the builder agreed I would need a no-drain acid bath in the Spring. The finish wasn't horrible, it just wasn't as uniform as I expected for a $4000 upgrade.
We opened the pool April 1st this year. The builder sent someone out to look at the plaster again and agreed that it was not up to par, needed the no-drain acid bath to rectify the issue, and stated they would get me on the schedule soon. Well, it's been over 2 months now, I've had issues getting in touch with the builder, and my plaster is slowly getting worse. I feel like it's slowly, but surely developing a uniform light grey/white finish all over the pool. This morning I noticed three sets or very distinct white footprints (barefoot) in the shallow end. These were not there last week. I tried brushing, but that had no effect.
All the reading I've done on here has me hesitant to even contact the builder to push the issue on the acid bath. It seems like a bad way to deal with a bad plaster installation, and only results in more issues down the road.
I need to figure out what's causing this, how to stop it from getting worse, and how to reverse/fix it if possible without causing other damage to the pool. I've done a very good job of keeping all the different chemicals balanced since the pool was opened. No idea what's happening here.
