That's pretty good advice. I was just trying to avoid having to clean up their mess afterwards. I guess the best thing to do is just let them do their thing, do what they tell me after, and let them be responsible for the outcome.

How is that so, if the pH of the fill water is 7.5? I'm not doubting you, I just don't understand the relationship. I'm a pool noob. I know MA lowers pH and TA. I know aerating will raise pH, but not TA. I had no idea raising TA would also raise pH.

I started at 600ppm, tested with TF100. Poolmath said I needed 825lbs to get to 3500ppm. I only added 640lbs to start with. My pump is single speed and usually runs 13 hours/day. Obviously I'm running 24/7 until I'm done adding salt. Mineral cartridge never was or will be installed.

Done and done. Started at 600ppm. SWG has never been used and the startup mineral cartridge is still sitting in the pool box, on it's way to the garbage. Hadn't planned on installing it once I realized what it was for.
