    Installing a salt cell

I installed mine myself last year. Circupool RJ60. It was simple. And I didn't refill. Just added salt - but make sure you get a Taylor test kit - the strips were way off and I ended up over-salting and having to do a part drain.

    Add stabilizer?

I didn’t keep up with stabilizer late season as the FC was fine and had the auto cover on all the time. Now time to close and cya level is not detectable. Free chlorine is 16. Should I add stabilizer prior to closing or just close after doing a pseudo slam and add stabilizer when I open? Temp...

    Repurpose auto-filler?

Excellent. Thanks for that. Do you think there is a way to "hack" the receiver unit to a manual timer? I agree. I've advised anyone installing a pool to take a pass. But since the valve is in place figured might try to use it.

    Repurpose auto-filler?

I have zero experience with this so excuse the ignorance. But if the smartmiser unit has the transformer is there a way to manually control it?

    Repurpose auto-filler?

When our pool was installed in 2016 it had a toilet lever auto filler. Three months after moving in there was a leak under the concrete in the filler pipe so the pool installer replaced it with a smartmiser wireless system (SmartMiser). It never really worked - probably because theres a...

    Just fired the pool guy

OMG! Funny because its so true. I have some extra time right now due to COVID. I'm going to start "Mark's Pool Service". I'm going to charge a one time $265 fee. It includes a tft test kit ($165) and a TFP Gold membership ($100).

SWG - Is it REALLY worth it??

I just converted and love it. I also had my pool dialed in last season with liquid chlorine. Then I went on vacation for 3 weeks and had to re-SLAM and drop my CYA by draining since I was relying on pucks. Bonus is that the end users - my wife and fours kids swim more because they like the...

    Opening my pool

I had the similar heating issue last year. Wiring harness had several shorts where rodents had chewed insulation. Replaced harness and put rodent guards on. We also opened early. Lower temps in some ways makes the slam easier since nothing grows very fast. Good luck!

    Leak repair success

Wanted to report my success with “Leak B Gone”. Essentially little snap on pvc collars that repair bad joints. For background, I changed from a single speed to variable speed pump. I have 2 inch plumbing. Had a slow drip joint at a coupler. I know it will have to be redone eventually but was...

    Overshot salt...Ugh

Good point. I didn’t realize the salt content of the bleach. Last year the pool was drained and refilled for some plaster work. Rechlorinated with liquid chlorine and maintained with pucks.
