Help/advice with recent calcium deposits/flakes in pool

I get this from my salt system when the PH is to high. I wouldn’t think 7.8 would be too high but worth trying to lower a tad see if the symptoms change.

Gunite Finishes. Plain Plaster vs Diamond Brite vs Pebble Technology

Sorry that’s always what I’ve heard it called. Maybe where you are at it’s plaster dye, ask the plaster contractor and he should know what you are talking about. I don’t think they like to do it as the markup is minimal and it takes a little more work to trowel out as it is prone to...

Gunite Finishes. Plain Plaster vs Diamond Brite vs Pebble Technology

I’m a big fan of the tented plaster, typically adds $500 and there are a lot of options. I know that wasn’t asked but the more information you have for your decision. Agreed that a properly maintained pool can make the plaster last much longer than 7-9 years.

    HOw Long Can Filter Last

Second that opinion, my cartridge filter I clean twice a year and use the time change as the reminder. If the pressure is above normal from a large dust storm obviously I’ll make an exception. I’d budge 8-10 years on a set of properly maintained cartridges.

    Noisy bubbly returns

LOL, when I've tried to drive my navigator to aggressively it will cause bubbles to appear in my return lines. This is the same principle of the bubbles that develop on a boat propeller.

    Noisy bubbly returns

Could this be pump cavitation, did you make any changes to the navigator/suction side.

Is pool light faceplate supposed to be flush and sealed?

The light fixture sits in the pool light nitch and that is flush with the plaster. The pool light is its own sealed enclosure and hooks to the nitch and usually only has one screw at the top holding everything in place. Just to be clear you are fine.

DE filter releasing small amount of de into pool

Probably just a small pin hole in one of the filter fingers.

    My autofill

I agree, must be some sort of air purge issue. I've had good success using the suction from my pool vac disconnected from the navigator and held against the wall to clear the line. But if you get too aggressive you can add air by running the tank empty. The only other thing I can think of is...

Salt conversion and pump/controller question. Pantair

I think I'm just going to pickup an intermatic timer for HomeDepot and finish up the project. I'm just suprised using all Pentair equipment it isn't easier to setup.

Salt conversion and pump/controller question. Pantair

Hey Jim thanks for the quick response, that does clear up some/most of my question. What about using the plug on the pump to send a signal out to turn on the SWCG? The documentation has a pin out but no information on the cable needed.

Salt conversion and pump/controller question. Pantair

I have a Pentair VS pump and filter that I previously installed a year ago. System has been working great for the last year and now it's time to convert to salt. After much research (way to much reading) I liked the idea of separating the power source from the salt generator. So I selected the...
