Water Exchange - Doing the Math

Thank you for the explaination! I appreciate you unpacking that DeltaT number for me -- the calculation makes a lot more sense now. Side note: I use a drop test for Salt and CH separately.

Water Exchange - Doing the Math

    Friends, I'm conducting a water exchange on my pool. CH = 850 (! I was a bit shocked by this number, but we haven't replaced/exchanged water for 2 1/5 years, so I figure it is just a product of that) Salt = 2000 Additionally: TA = 110 CYA = 50 PH = 7.6 FC = 1 CC = 0 PWT = 67 FWT = 50 FW...

    Which salt to buy?

    Which salt to buy?

I could not find pool salt at any of our big box stores today but I did find this Morton Salt 40 lb. Pure and Natural Water Softener Salt-3983 - The Home Depot and will run with it after I get my test kit. Thank you mknauss, ajw22, and setsailsoon!!

    Which salt to buy?

We refilled after fresh plaster, this past December. It is a city water supply. I will look into the salt test, thank you. Is there some reference on how much is appropriate to have in a bleach sanitized pool?

    Which salt to buy?

Is this salt ok to use with a bleach sanitizing method? 40lbs will be ok to add for the softening quality?

pH Test Variations = Confusion + Frustration

Hey ya'll -- as mentioned a few days ago, I purchased the fancy-dancy pH meter this spring in an attempt to have greater confidence in managing our pH. However! It has actually incurred less confidence and more confusion for me! :-\ We resurfaced our pool this past December, so I've been...

    PH meter fiasco!

That is a brilliant idea that I wish I had thought of before dumping my calibration fluid. :-\ I'm happy to serve as a cautionary tale for any others embarking on the meter endeavor, though!

    PH meter fiasco!

So...I also bought the lovely yellow meter from TFP and was a bit deflated to find out I needed to calibrate, however I trucked myself down to Target for some cheap distilled h2o and got the reader all set up. I have been using the rest of the gallon for rinsing the meter after each reading. My...

Chemistry Tests Look Good...is a SLAM required?

Manohman, I love this! I'm so glad I found this forum last summer and am so thankful for the simple method and community support here. Thanks!!

Chemistry Tests Look Good...is a SLAM required?

Cool! The water is really clear -- I could count the little notches in the drain covers if I wanted. Is that unusual to not have to SLAM? I am new enough at this to feel wary of such luck. Maybe because we didn't truly "close" the pool? Thanks so much for the links, too. I will sink my teeth...

Robot Recommendations for Free-Form (Jellybean) Shaped IG

Follow-up: took the plunge ;) and bought the Triton PS. Have run it twice. The kids have named it Roscoe. Looking forward to a sparkly clean pool this summer.

Chemistry Tests Look Good...is a SLAM required?

We had our IG pool resurfaced in December and chemistry was balanced immediately after by our pool guy. I took over maintenance after a few weeks and was simply brushing, vacuuming, monitoring chlorine and pH levels until a couple of weeks ago. We had zero CYA because of the new water, so I...
