Did you say that you have DE? My (now replaced) sand filter would take forever...many days...to clear my pool from cloudy to clear. Reminds me that I need to update my signature.

I use Pool Pal. Been using for a couple years now. The calcs seem pretty good...I add what it says, and it results in the numbers I target. It is not great for viewing trends over time, which is something that I look forward to seeing in this new app.

CYA does not climb without being added. However, it is difficult to measure accurately, so it may appear fluctuate, even with a good test kit. You are on the right track getting a high quality test kit, and planning for a SLAM. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk

The key thing is that you need an accurate test kit. TF100 is the best value for that, as it is basically a lower cost alternative to the professional grade Taylor kits...using the same chemicals. These are the types of tests used by professionals who maintain pools...some of whom are on this...

Agree that you may have a leak. In this case, it is letting air into the line, so water drains back to the pool. Before pump may have looked like it was running, but lack of proper priming (from air in the line) may have kept it from having real flow...mine does that if water level gets down...

If you replace one light with LED, you really should replace both to match. Otherwise the color difference (even with whites) and brightness difference will be very noticeable.

I'm important to have a good understanding of the CYA number. Is it really low (like 10), or really high, like 100+? It's not clear from what you say. This is important to know, because IF your CYA is really high, the advice here will be to lower your CYA through draining and replacing...

Where do you guys find 1.5" ABS?

My (most?) returns have a 1.5" threaded hole, so a 1.5" pvc plug can thread right in. That's how the directional eyes hole things attach, so you turn those counter clockwise to remove them, then put the plugs in their place.
