    Delay pool opening?

We just installed a SWCG last year, and I feel a lot of relief not having to source chlorine -- even without a shortage. I'm really grateful to not have to deal with (more) empty shelves. If you can get salt, you might consider a small project to start the year off right (and by "right," I...

Pool habits/routines - Swim, Eat, Repeat!

Life has been so nice since I installed our saltwater chlorine generator. Right now I'm sitting poolside with coffee, and will check the chlorine and pH before I head in. I'm still fiddling with the percentage, but it looks like getting the 60k generator for the 20k pool is going to allow it to...

What does start-up include, in your experience?

ajw, that's sort of my worry. We have put every complaint we've had in writing, but hindsight is 20/20 and I should have gotten the start-up description written, too. That said, in our county anyway, small claims supposedly covers "verbal agreements," so perhaps all is not lost...? Man, I really...

RMcGirr83, did you pay for that start-up? Thanks for the input on next steps, jimmy and sktn!

What does start-up include, in your experience?

Oh, TFP. We are at the tail-end of renovation. I dearly wanted to be able to post pictures here and celebrate when we were done, but it's been such an ordeal that my enthusiasm has waned considerably. The drama, if you want the long version: In addition to not following the contract regarding...

Demo went down to dirt... is this okay?

Thanks, sktn. I'm going to talk to the PB in a little more depth to see what the plan is.

Demo went down to dirt... is this okay?

Jim, the circular hole in the background is the main drain hole. They did hammer through the shotcrete in the foreground -- the brown/rust colored patch is dirt and rebar. James, none that I know of. I'm a little suspicious of a line on one of the steps, but there are no major cracks I'm aware...

Demo went down to dirt... is this okay?

Erg, that was my fear. I guess the bigger question is: how should this be dealt with? Is it fixable?

Demo went down to dirt... is this okay?

We are fiiiiinally moving on this reno job that we got quoted in March... yikes, what a wait! Demo was completed yesterday. There is an area near the middle of exposed rebar and, I discovered this evening, dirt. Cue my mental sirens... :taped: Is this normal? The PB has said it will be taken...

    Add returns/intakes during remodel?

I was lamenting to my PB's wife/assistant that finish color was such a big decision, and she replied, "It's really not. You're not going to have all the other colors to compare it to once it's in your backyard. It will just be what it is, and you will love it." The interwebs have witnessed...

    Add returns/intakes during remodel?

A big concern of mine -- thank you for this info! Had not thought about this. Really good point, and well-taken (I say, while upgrading to a SWCG... the allure of less maintenance is like a siren song). Yes, yes, yes. Wow. These are all fantastic points, and ones that hit home with me. Maybe...

    Add returns/intakes during remodel?

Oooh, you have me thinking I should actually check that my skimmer line is all PVC, and not just joined with copper underground somewhere -- I'll take the opportunity to do that when everything is ripped up. I do have the PVC know-how (learned that real quick with a solar heat install, ha)...

    Add returns/intakes during remodel?

Just went and sat out there for a bit... Kim, I think you're right that another return would actually give me enough circulation to ditch the vac for a robot in the future. I really love how much the deep end moves. I'm gonna sit with this idea of putting a return right before the steps. It...
