Pros and Cons of Sand vs Cartridge Filters???

DE is best. Sand with some DE is a very close second. Cartridges just can't get the superfine stuff. Had and experienced all three, so my rating is based on knowing them all.

    Texas Low Nox Required ?

Because it is better for cleaner air? Lower NOx is good for everyone who breaths, so putting health ahead of money is a darn good reason. At 400,000 btu per hour that is a LOT of saved emissions. A gas water heater is only 40,000 btu. Lower NOx are usually more efficient too since the burn...

    Clorine tab staining

Too bad, with plaster you use acid in a stain removal device on your pool pole to remove it.

    Electric spa heater replacement

Why not LP? The tank can be buried. As a rural homeowner with only LP, it works great. Buy your tank. $1,000 for 1,000 gallon tank, new. Bury the tank. No leasing. No contracts for LP. You can shop ALL suppliers and get the best rates. Gas is THE most efficient and quickest source.

Thinking of switching from DE to cartridge - opinions?

I would keep the DE. If sewer connection is too complex (usually you can just add a hose connection to the drain cleanout), then maybe a french drain or cistern? The quality of DE or sand with DE is just simply superior to a cartridge system. I would make DE work.

Deciding between natural gas heater and electric heat pump

Where did you get this? What are the formulas behind those cells? Having had pools forever those numbers just don't add up. I noticed you are using therms, that is a billing calculation number. You need to use actual btu (gas) and kwh (electric) converted to btus to determine the energy need...

Deciding between natural gas heater and electric heat pump

If you think you are going to heat a pool in Seattle for $200 a year on electric you will be shocked. You will pay about $300 per MONTH with gas and double that for electric. Electric for heating water is THE MOST INEFFICIENT means. Skip the sales Baloney Sandwich! Go gas. Use the existing...

Deciding between natural gas heater and electric heat pump

Skip the Heat pumps. Guaranteed to run 24 hours a day. The love to quote a cost of $/hr of operating time. Gas shows $$$$/hr and heat pumps $/hr, so much less! Lol. They fail to tell you that you get 400,000 btu with the gas heater per hour instead of 35,000 btu with the heat pump. Running...
