First time replacing Hayward Super Pump Motor

I notice with this particular model, the capacitor is commonly unscrewed and moved off to the side so that you can fit the wrench to secure the shaft so that you can twist the impellar off. Maybe for that reason?

First time replacing Hayward Super Pump Motor

Hey all, with how loud my current pool motor is, I have decided to replace it after 4 years. I could have removed and attempted to repair it, but I found a replacement motor for $210.00 (Pool Store selling same motor for $360.00 btw) so that seemed like fairly reasonable fix. My one question...

Hayward Suuper Pump dead after four seasons

My rates going up as well here, Scranton, PA area! So, not sure what the start cap is... but the issue was the switch cover for the pump power switch. After four years, the switch cover was not fully engaging the switch behind it. Crazy... the motor works but definitely sounds louder than it...

Hayward Suuper Pump dead after four seasons

Hey all, so this pump let me down after just four seasons in the Northeast. Powered it on Saturday and heard just the hum, no water pump. Tried it twice more and now not even a hum, completely dead. I have my electrician coming over to double check the electric, but assuming it is the motor...

    Time for a new pump?

So this was the comment that lead to my fix. Firstly, thank you. The basket not filling with water alerted me and furthered my theory that the issue must be between the skimmer and the pump. Time for a new pump?

Would too much water cause this? My levels are high, trying to run waste to reduce level, water level is close to top of skimmer mouth. Impeller was checked, clear. Baskets are clear. Intake is clear in the skimmer. I will double check the O ring. What do you usually use for O ring lube?

    Time for a new pump?

The water is not getting above basket level, if over not much at all.

    Time for a new pump?

I would agree the pump sounds steady, but you can here the gushes of water which appears to start right out of the pump, theory further supported based on the backwash and waste cycle which cuts out everything else. I would say pumpe does sound a little louder than it has been over the years.

    Time for a new pump?

I checked the baskets, checked for air leaks, checked the impeller, and made sure basket was full of water. Ran on backwash, rinse, filter, and waste all the same reaction.
