    CSI with waterline tiles

I do not get any scaling, but occasionally one of the small lower tiles comes free and I have to reattach and re-grout it. I can’t say I’ve noticed any water wicking, but occasionally I get a little tinge of green right along the waterline in a very small spot. Quick little brushing takes care...

    CSI with waterline tiles

The tiles were in place when I bought the house. I’m pretty sure they’re cement based. Do you think a silicone grout and spreading a layer over the grout lines could help to waterproof and protect them so leaching is not a problem?

    CSI with waterline tiles

Having a fiberglass pool, I have always followed advice I got here that a negative CSI, down as low as -.6, was OK. But, I actually have waterline tiles, and was wondering if I should be maintaining a higher CSI to avoid the grout from being damaged. Thoughts? Kevin

Same here. I guess it is not a local issue.

    Slam single drop testing

Long ago, I read a way to test during a SLAM to conserve your reagents. What is that process? I recall one drop for one ppm.

    Filter causing cloudiness?

The pollen is a possibility. But usually I see some clinging to parts of the pool when it is high. Right now, we are and have been at moderate, so to me seems unlikely. Test results show no algae: 4/18, 3:40 PM FC 6 CC 0 pH 7.5 CH 300 CYA 40 4/18 7:30 PM FC 11 ( I added my daily dose, and was...

    Filter causing cloudiness?

Yes, I do clean my filter cartridge, quite often (as in every month if not more often). But, how a paper cartridge can be expected to last for years boggles my mind. We get a lot of pollen in SWFL. With that and the other reasons posted before, it eventually will not clean sufficiently to keep...

    Filter causing cloudiness?

I know it sounds odd, but the common denominator is the new filters. Mine need replaced every six month or so. I get a lot of dirt and grit blown in. (I have pavers in my lanai area. That, dirt collecting in the pool cage screening and my wife's plants cause a lot of dirt in my pool. Every...

    Filter causing cloudiness?

I have been using TFP since buying my house with an in-ground pool four years ago. I check my chem levels several times a week using the TF-100, and have since week 1. I have to replace my filter cartridge twice a year. The last three times, immediately after inserting a new cartridge, my pool...

    Best non-copper based algicide

Wet and Forget is what I use now. I plan to pressure wash the cage, and wanted to hit it with something first. I will just stay with the Wet and Forget.

    Best non-copper based algicide

I was just about to follow-up with that exact statement. I agree it won't make a difference, but was curious of the opinion of others. I believe he said he was using HTH. But, he doesn't do his own pool, and has not come over to the light side. Tnx Kevin

    Best non-copper based algicide

I do not use algicide in my pool as I maintain my FC properly. But, what is the best recommended algicide that does not contain metals? My reason for asking is that my neighbor used a mixture of a capful of algicide and 1/2 cup of liquid chlorine in a garden sprayer to clean his pool cage of...

    Pool store chlorine?

Does anyone use, or even know of, a hand pump that will fit these? As I age, those 2.5 gallon jugs may get hard to handle. I looked at the links above, and the spigot made me wonder about the possibly of pumping my daily dose.

Can I use summer rain to lower CYA?

I was out of town for five nights in August, and my CYA had been dropping towards 30 as the trip approached. So, I was able to use some tablets to help maintain my chlorine while gone, and raise the CYA back up. So, knowing your levels and you can do that. Good job using the rain water!
