Help?: Been Going well, used oxidizing shock and now CC is high, trying to lower

The CC test will turn pink if you let it sit. Once it turns clear after adding R-0871, the test is done and you can dispose of it. I would say your CC is most likely .5, not 2.5 or 3. https://www.troublefreepool.com/blog/2019/01/18/fas-dpd-chlorine-test/

Starting to see algae in my new pool

Double-check your PoolMath calculations. You might need 12 gallons for your whole SLAM, but you should only need 1.5 - 2 gallons of 10% liquid chorine to get from 4 to 12FC in a 20K pool.

    Exposed Aggregate new deck question

BB - The house I bought last summer has an aggregate patio around the pool. My biggest complaint about it is the tiny pebbles that break loose and end up in the pool (and in the house on the hardwood floors). I'm constantly vacuuming them up from the pool stairs and on the pool floor around...

    Identify Pool Electrical Equipment Help

I was really hoping that would work for you! Best guess is that the whole transformer needs to be replaced. I don't know anything about the different automation systems, but I would think that they should be able to control landscape lights too. The good news is that you now have a pretty...

    Identify Pool Electrical Equipment Help

Looks like a timer and wiring for landscape lighting to me. I'm guessing the previous owner bypassed the timer and was using the X10 to control the lights - that's what the cord running to the box above it. I would unplug the cable from the X10 outlet and plug it into the outlet that comes...

    Identify Pool Electrical Equipment Help

I'm not an electrician and I know very little about the electrical code, but I think that a pool light is supposed to run off of a gfci breaker, not just behind a gfci outlet. One of the experts around here might be able to verify that for us. It's good that there is gfci protection, but it's...

    Identify Pool Electrical Equipment Help

I've been spending a lot of time lately trying to figure out what the heck the previous owners were doing when they were wiring things up at my house. The horizontal jbox is the junction box for wires from your pool lights, which then go to your switch for the pool lights. You don't have any...

    Unknown Fiber Optic Rope Lighting

I've got a similar situation to you. House built in 2004, I bought it last summer. Fiber Optic rope lighting under the coving - but that's it. No box, motor, color wheel. It must have stopped working at some point and it was taken out. All that is left is an outlet that I think they added...

    Hello from MO

Hello everyone, I bought a home with a pool late last summer and wished I'd found TFP right away, but I really am glad that I've found it now! Reading through the forums has been a great help as I've opened up the pool this spring, and I know it will be a big help as I go through my first full...
