    Low CYA = Chlorine Loss

Only lost .5 overnight. My poolmath app says to raise CYA to 45. Being that I'm in Texas should I lean more towards 60?

I'll do the OCLT tonight and see what happens.

    Low CYA = Chlorine Loss

Good morning. My CYA has been low (30) and I think is possibly a culprit on my daily chlorine loss. Would it be recommended that I up my CYA to around 50 to help combat my daily chlorine loss?

I'll drain it down around a 1/3 and refill. No need to SLAM as I took care of my original problem a few weeks back.

I have been having to add about a gallon of chlorine everyday to maintain my FC levels. My CYA has been high for awhile and I’ve decided to drain the pool to lower the CYA and the amount of chlorine needed to maintain. My last CYA reading was 90 so I guess I need to replace roughly half of the...

Tested this morning and passed the OCLT with 1ppm drop. Now do I just let the FC numbers drop back to normal range? Also I'm leaving town tomorrow for about 5 days. I have someone looking over the house do they need to add chlorine to the pool while I'm gone? I only have a online chlorinator...

The water has been clear the whole time. I was just trying to clear up a little green algae. I'll give the OCLT a try.

So after a few days I think I have things somewhat under control. Testing a few times daily I'm only dropping about 3-5ppm. Do I need to keep up the SLAM process or do an overnight chlorine loss at this point?

Started the SLAM yesterday afternoon. Brushed the pool early this morning and have added bleach twice this morning. Staying closer to the target FC level without having to add a bunch of chlorine each time. Should I be checking this every 2-3 hours if possible?

Okay now I think I'm just confusing myself. How much liquid chlorine do I need to add to begin the SLAM process? In my pool math app there is no selection for liquid chlorine just bleach chlorine.

Adjusted the PH down to 7.2. Going to start the SLAM process later this morning.

Thanks for the info! Right now I have the in-line chlorinator with pucks and I have been throwing some shock in on occasion. Obviously I had no clue what I was doing before just basically guessing. I'll take a look at the slam process and proceed from there.

I discovered TFP a few weeks back and ordered the TF Pro kit. This morning I tested the water and below are the results. For the past few weeks, I seem to be battling some minor green algae growing on the steps and side wall. See below for my test results as of this morning. Now the million...
