Where did the "New Threads" link go?

Thanks. The "New Threads" helped get quick replies to people, while those would get buried within "New Posts" by ongoing conversations in established threads.

Where did the "New Threads" link go?

I've noticed it for a week or two, if that helps you track what happened. I just thought it might be cookies or bad eyes. Thanks!

Where did the "New Threads" link go?

Under the "What's new" section on the left side, there use to be both "New Posts" and "New Threads", but the latter has disappeared. Is there another place to find that link?

Split Nut unions? Any reason not to order these for my T-Cell repair?

I have them on hand, and seem to be correct, but since it is not leaking, I'm not in a big hurry to try them. If things go well, I'll be able to do a screw-on test as I take the cell out when winterizing in 3 or 4 months.

    Sand Filter Concave

The plastic folds don't look especially bad. Could you unload the sand and attempt to remove the laterals, then just try to push the dent out by hand (upgrading slowly to other forms of persuasion, if needed)? I agree with others that it looks like the pump was not pushing water through the...

    Pool pump died on me

Looks like a 2.0HP motor without a SF multiplier. I assume you are happy with the performance of your current pump. If so, I'd be hesitant to go any smaller. You can always dial a more powerful motor down, but not a smaller one up. Here is the Energy Star listing of VS pumps sorted by...

Split Nut unions? Any reason not to order these for my T-Cell repair?

I found these cracks in my 2" T-cell unions. They aren't leaking yet, but could easily see them becoming a problem at any moment. I really wasn't enthused at the amount of PVC work needed to just change the union nuts. Then I found this thread. They look perfect as long as they fit and hold...

Pool builder is recommending SuperPump 1.5hp (not VSP)

My "Hayward MaxFlo VS (SP2302VSP)" doesn't have an onboard schedule. It utilizes an external mechanical timer (same I used for my single speed pump) to control on/off cycles. It does have a built in countdown timer that controls when to go from one speed to another (that's all relative to...

Pool builder is recommending SuperPump 1.5hp (not VSP)

Just wanted to reinforce what has already been said.... The VS is better because of economic, environmental, flexibility, usability, comfort, etc. When most people want to move to VS, they hesitate because their current pump isn't dead yet or don't want to mess with changing pool control. You...

    Useless Chemicals

@PoolGate I just came from the Montgomery Waste Transfer station by King Farm. It seems fully open. I dropped antifreeze, motor oil, and clothing recycling.

    Should I replace my motor?

I got the pump from a 3rd party seller on Amazon. The rebate was through electric company. DIY installed. How to size? I'm no authority, but others can help if you give a description of your pool. Many will start by asking about existing equipment and if it is performing well. Further...

    Should I replace my motor?

The new VS pump is smaller and quieter even at full speed. At full speed (3000 rpm), it consumes 913 watts. If I'm doing the math right, I am utilizing 1.25 HP of the designed 1.65 HP. At its slowest speed of 600 rpm, it uses an astonishing 26 watts, and still manages to keep the SWG flow...

    Should I replace my motor?

I had a single speed 1HP Superpump. I went with the 1.65 HP Hayward MaxFlo VS SP2302VSP (requires external timer). I believe the SP2303VSP has the full timer. Some say that these pumps are smaller than they prefer, but it has been perfect for me. Here is the energy star in-ground pump...

    Should I replace my motor?

Some have 24 hour timers integrated, while others rely on external timers for power on/off and internal countdown timers to select speed. Some are one of the above, but can also be configured to completely rely on pool automation systems for control. How is your current pump controlled?
