    What is your daily dosage?

Pool is fairly small, so I just pour a few glugs in and test a while later. Not very scientific, but as long the FC is within a range, I'm happy.

Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

Our local Walmart, and Loews is flush with gallons of 10% sodium Hypochlorite. If people only knew that it was half the price of Chlorox.......

Helping a friend get a new pool ready

No expert here, but I maintained a 25,000 gallon IG vinyl lined pool for several years. Getting the TA down isn't too critical, if the pH is stable. I'd worry about that later if needed. Currently, my TA is very high, at 180, but my pH is stable, so nothing need be done. I would start getting...

Green won't go away no matter what I do

Doesn't algae turn cloudy, or whitish if the bleach has killed it. You might not be slamming with enough chlorine......but I digress. he main point I wanted to make, is that when we had a very contaminated pool for a couple of spring openings, we needed a little diatomacous earth added to the...

Ok, be honest, who brings their shampoo to the pool?

hahaha ...... well, this is the first year with the above ground pool, so, not sure if we'll take it down in the winter. When we had our 25,000 gal in ground pool, a little shampoo never hurt anything. Now it definitely clouds the water, but it clears quickly, and yes, I keep an eye on the FC.

Be honest, who keeps their FC levels quite a bit higher than recommended?

Guess I'm not alone. If I get to the minimum recommended it's a mistake. I keep it a bit high, so there is a slight buffer against my bad memory or laziness :)

Ok, be honest, who brings their shampoo to the pool?

Water first, then soap later, we trick him. I guess we're just ghetto pool swimmers.

Ok, be honest, who brings their shampoo to the pool?

Well, the pool is about the only way we can get our son to get clean. He is afraid of soap and water, so you can bet the shampoo follows him to the pool. :)

Why do recommended CYA levels seem high to me?

Yeah, it does take several days to really level out. Thanks.

Be honest, who keeps their FC levels quite a bit higher than recommended?

I do. Somewhere between target and slam works for me. If my target is 5 and my slam is 12.....anything between 5-10 is fine with me.

Why do recommended CYA levels seem high to me?

I might raise my CYA a little, but unless I'm losing my mind, and that's distinctly possible, my FC doesn't seem to drop much faster with less CYA.

Why do recommended CYA levels seem high to me?

OK, thanks. I'll keep a close eye on it, and raise it if necessary.

Why do recommended CYA levels seem high to me?

I maintained a 25,000 gallon pool for a few years, with the help of this forum, and it's members. We have since moved, and now have a small 3,500 gallon pool. I was always more comfortable maintaining the large pool with a CYA of 20. Wasn't that hard to keep the FC levels up, and was easy to...
