Jacuzzi Wide Mouth Skimmers

Has anyone ever had experience with the wide mouth skimmers made by Jacuzzi/Carvin Pools? I have a really old inground pool with a model W skimmer. It looks exactly the same as the new generation WF skimmer which is advertised on their website. Although there is nothing wrong with my skimmer, I...

    Brown water returns through jets

There are quite a few trees around my property, none of which are actually on it. All of the leaves end up in my pool come fall, and they sit all winter and part of spring decomposing nicely in the bottom :grrrr: Anyways, I had this same problem last year. Whenever we pass the vacuum head over...

    pump replacement

Do you have any recommendations on specific models? I know Hayward makes some 2-speed models, but I don't think were going to bother investing in a new pump. I will try to find one on craigslist or kijiji for cheap. They will most likely be the older pumps, from Jacuzzi, Hayward, Jandy, etc...

    pump replacement

First off, my dad recommend that I take an amperage reading with my tester. I took the reading off the black wire going to the timer (120v), and the amps were 14.05. On the faceplate itself, the max amps is rated at 14.8. The motor is working too hard even running without the vac plate in.. ...

    pump replacement

Today was a warmer day, but nowhere near the temperatures down in the US. It was only 30 C or 86 F, which is nowhere near the 100 F like in Nevada/Arizona. Anyways, I set the skimmer to suck 100% from main drain, with all lines open wide open. It seemed to be working fine, but when I came back...

    identification of filter and multiport

I have some pictures here of my current setup. I have already identified my pump as a Sta-Rite Duraglas P2RA5E-124L. I cannot however identify my filter or multiport. All it says on them is Swimquip. DSC00522.jpg[/attachment:rply138g]...

want to get main drain working

Actually when its in the position MAX SKIM, both holes are wide open. The position vacuum is where the MD port is completely covered. DSC00516.JPG[/attachment:1e4wsv9i]

want to get main drain working

Ok I was tinkering around with the skimmer today, and found a few things out. First of all, I found out from the diagram below that this "flap" I am always talking about is actually called a trimmer plate. So this is what went on. When I moved the plate to expose the MD hole, like I said...

want to get main drain working

That second hole beside the center hole in the vac plate is machined there for some reason. The underside is just like a regular vac plate. Now should the vac plate go below or ontop of the basket? And what setting should I put the flap at when I figure out which way it pivots? Thanks.

want to get main drain working

Thanks for the reply, I went ahead and took a picture of the skimmer when the pump was off, and of the vacuum plate. This is the plate that is normally connected to my vac hose when I vacuum the pool. So if I want to get the MD working (if its not clogged with solid stuff), all I gotta do is...
