Name of this PVC pump fitting?

@mguzzy You are my HERO!!! I'm facing a pad plumbing situation that looks like spaghetti both above and below ground. This tool will be an absolute life saver...

New (to us) pool, and I don't see how it can possibly work as it should... Help!

Thanks everyone for the re-assurance that we're not in a bad starting place with our current setup. As for the equipment pad, there is no "pad", but rather a small wooden platform that wasn't built with pressure treated lumber, so it's sagging and about to fall in. My plan is to re-work that...

New (to us) pool, and I don't see how it can possibly work as it should... Help!

This will be our 2nd year in our new home, and my 2nd year (EVER) with a pool. Thanks to TFP, my 1st year was somewhat successful - but I've always been troubled by some facets of our ancient pool. 1 - Pump and Filter 2 - Skimmer 3 - Returns (Red arrows indicate attempted water flow...

First time pool owner (came with the house) - working to lower CYA of 140

5/11/18 - 1:30pm - CYA dilution test shows 70. Getting better. Think I'm going to start another drain and fill :)

First time pool owner (came with the house) - working to lower CYA of 140

Opened the pool Monday of this week, and was surprised to find that the water was clear, but the level was low. Topped off pool, ran filter for 12 hours to circulate everything, and tested water. CYA tested 140 via dilution test. Following excellent instruction from woodyp, I began drain and...

Ready to fill my pool with concrete!

Welcome Amanda! We're new as well, and all I can say is definitely give TFP a chance before giving up on your pool. I'm a first time pool owner, and have never seen such helpful, patient, friendly people on ANY forum I've visited. It will be very helpful if you'll give some information about...

Hello! New to the forum, and new to pool ownership via purchase of a home

A followup: I hated to buy a submersible utility pump that would output via a 3/4" garden hose because a drain of any sizable amount would take FOREVER. So I followed Tim the Toolman's advise and looked for MORE POWER!! Sadly, the cost of renting a 2, 3 or 4 inch pump from the local supply...

    Pool Still Green After Opening

I'm glad to see someone else had some of the same fear(s) as we did! The initial cost of the kit seems steep, especially for a tool that you don't yet know how to use. But have some faith, and remind yourself of the big $$$ you'll save in the end. As for not knowing what to do with the kit...

Hello! New to the forum, and new to pool ownership via purchase of a home

woody - your bet was correct. I did a diluted CYA test (25% pool water, 25% tap water, 50% solution) and got a reading of 70, which means a CYA of 140! Thanks for the nudge - it made me think more. I'm going to move the discussion to a new post in a more appropriate forum. Thanks again for...

Hello! New to the forum, and new to pool ownership via purchase of a home

I consulted PoolMath, which says replace 64%. Some more info that might help: This pool was built in the 70's, and has no drain(s) in the floor. The only intake/drain for the pump and filter is the skimmer (which is so old it uses a stainless steel rectangular basket and has no weir!)...
