Is a new pump worth it?

I've been battling pipe leakage for about 2 years, and I've had multiple people recommend replacing my pump. I believe a variable speed pump (of some type) would improve things (water lose & electrical usage), and with it's installation- install new pipes and connectors. I'm looking for some...

    CYA Testing Error 🤔

Yes, that's my main question about having such low CYA. I'll test it again with the new reagents when it arrives, but I've only done regular backwashes, I haven't drained it, but I seem to always be low on stabilizer for some reason.

    CYA Testing Error 🤔

I keep a notebook with all my test numbers, and at the end of last summer (Sept 27), the CYA tested at about 45. It sounds like I just need a lot more stabilizer. Would I only lose stabilizer through back washing?

    CYA Testing Error 🤔

Well, I filled up the CYA viewing tube to the top, and could see the black dot at the bottom. It was crystal clear. I just ordered new reagents for my test kit, so I'll test again when it arrives. Currently, I added a pound of stabilizer to the pool using the sock method.

    CYA Testing Error 🤔

I do keep my test kit inside, and you're right about buying new reagents and chemicals.

    CYA Testing Error 🤔

Hello, This morning I tested the CYA level in my pool, and the number was ZERO. Last week, I'd put 2 cups of stabilizer in a sock for dispersion, and so I'm trying to determine if I really just need more stabilizer, or could there be an error with chemical R-0013 that I used in my CYA test. My...

    New Pool Vacuum Needed 🎁🎈🎉

Great advice, thanks everybody. I originally was planning to purchase a new suction cleaner, but now I'm looking at all these robot cleaners. o_O My pool isn't huge, so I'm leaning toward a simple suction cleaner. I'll keep you posted on what I buy and how it goes.

    New Pool Vacuum Needed 🎁🎈🎉

Yesterday I took in my 2009 Hayward pool vacuum for repairs to my trusted local pool store. They have informed me that repairs will be around $200. I asked how much a new vacuum would be, since it seems that I have needed repairs every 4-6 months. He said I could buy a new Hayward vacuum for...

    Tiles, Tiles, Tiles

My son was just swimming in the pool and grabbed a couple tiles from the bottom of the pool. Not sure if he knocked these off, or they really did come off, but I needed recommendation for how to put them back onto the pool border wall. The water level usually is about in the middle of the tiles...

    Light Bulb

I'm not sure how I should repair this pool light. I'm about to change out the breaker and the switch incase those parts are causing the trouble (electrically), and then I'd need some help with this socket corrosion. I'd prefer not snaking a new cord through and installing a new light socket if I...

    Light Bulb

Does anyone know how best to diagnose the pool light? I'm beginning to think it could be the switch or the breaker? There does seem to be corrosion in the socket. That's why I'm nervous about putting in a new bulb and "seeing what happens", or just biting the bullet and buying a whole new casing.
