Sodium hypochlorite 10% bleach and cyanuric acid compatible in pool?

I use gallon jugs of 10% bleach for my primary pool sanitizer. I typically use trichlor 3-inch tabs to introduce and maintain 20-25 ppm of stabilizer in my pool This year's shortage of 3-inch tabs has caused me to use more chlorine bleach than normal. Can I use the pool store cyanuric acid...

South Central KY old time pool owner focused on minimizing algae clean-up for opening

By the way, I am sooooo cheap that I just manually swirl my TF 100 test kit chems in testing. To play it safe, I just run more free chlorine. Surprisingly, no algae! :giggle:

But what the heck? With 6.000 gals and a heater, do you ever get out of your pool? :laughblue:

Thank you mknauss! I am guessing that in Nevada, your pool is running 24/7/365 every year.

South Central KY old time pool owner focused on minimizing algae clean-up for opening

Hey members-- Please comment on the following pool opening plan. (I am old and NOT sensitive to constructive criticism, but I am CHEAP): Thanks. First - pool vinyl liner is 19 yrs old and is bleached as much as it can be. Too cheap to replace it because no major leaks (fingers crossed!). Second...

"Skim-A-Round" Hey! Does anyone have experience with products from this company?

"Skim-A-Round" Hey! Does anyone have experience with products from this company? My wife, bless her outstanding assistance with our pool maintenance efforts while she views her facebook account, has found a company that utilizes "the Bernoulli Effect" in their "new" skimmer baskets. Their...

    Frequency to shock chlorine pool

This is fourth year on troublefree pool method with liquid 10% bleach. Once having opened the pool through 'slamming' and all other chemical readings are 'steady-as she-goes', how often should I shock the pool? Previously (before TFP), I shocked once a week and after significant rainfall (1+...

Confusion on pH testing methods from long-time pool owner

Owner of pool since 1986. TFP member and user since 2013. Still confused about pH testing. (Chlorine bleach used as sanitizer.) I now use three testing kits. Primary test kit since 2013 is TFP-100. But no pH test. Primary test kit for pH is K-1000. Secondary test kit for Cl, pH, & TA is Bioguard...

Hayward Pro Series Sand Filter Model S-244T drain problem

Glad to share! Lowes plumbing tech didn't know about pool filters but he stayed with me for about 30 minutes and we discussed several alternatives each of us thought about. This method seemed simple enough to try (about a 1 beer job) and was CHEAP. I was just too cheap to pay $650 (filter and...

Hayward Pro Series Sand Filter Model S-244T drain problem

Dave--here are the pics of the repaired filter drain. To drain the filter, I will need to remove the plug while holding the adapter still. The adapter is screwed onto what was left of the drain protruding from the filter body. The adapter fits the original threads of the drain tightly enough...
