    Infinity pool trough algae

Good points. From looking at the piping it doesn't look like the trough/waterfall pump runs through the cartriage filter. I'm worried that brushing the silt/dirt here will circulate it into the pool first and then eventually through the filter. Hence my reluctance to just stir it up, and looking...

    Infinity pool trough algae

Easy answer... I haven't. With the amount of silt/dirt at the bottom of the trough I've been exploring options to vaccum it up rather than brushing it into the filter. Brushing it up would stir up a lot of the silt/dirt on the bottom and it would eventually force it through the filter. I tried...

    Infinity pool trough algae

So part of new pool experience has been understanding why the pool service did certain things. At the beginning I noticed a few chlorine floaters but removed then because of the swg in the pool, and the cya was already at 80. I also noticed a tablet sitting in the trough bottom. Again worried...

    New Pool, odd results?

Managed to get pretty sick for a few days. But I'll conclude this thread with this. I was able to shock the trough, and once the FC stayed at a high level sustained for a few days I went ahead and got the pump running across both the pool and the trough. Everything thus far is pretty routine...

    New Pool, odd results?

Trough FC: 13.5 Pool FC: 5 CC: 0.5 pH: 8.0 Ta: 120 Ca: 370 Added bleach to get trough back to shock levels. Added bleach to pool to get FC to 6+. Added acid to drop pH to 7.2.

    New Pool, odd results?

Interestingly enough the trough maintained fc of 1.5, and the pool stayed at 4.5. I went ahead and calculated what the shock value would be for the trough and added that to the trough only. I figure it will eventually be added back to the pool, the volume of the trough shouldn't have a huge...

    New Pool, odd results?

So this is embarrassing but if someone learns from this it's worth it. So this pool has a waterfall, and a dedicated pump for it. This pump pulls water from an infinity trough. Some of you will have already realized what I did...but for everyone else...just wait for it. So new to me pool, ehhh...

    New Pool, odd results?

Fc 4 Increased 20 gpm to 9 hours. I'll have to add bleach to get it up to a fc of 6 (just like mknauss said a few pages ago), humorously don't have bleach off hand.

    New Pool, odd results?

OK new schedule set. Edit: fat fingered this 5a to 1p 20 gpm 1p to 3p 120 gpm

    New Pool, odd results?

I can see why electric cleaners are getting popular, but I figure for now since the suction side cleaner is working we'll keep running it. Without the suction side cleaner I could likely just run the pump at a the lowest GPM that would provide FC. Since the pumps were running a combined time of...

    New Pool, odd results?

Good question, I've correlated the higher flow rates with stronger suction to keep the bottom/surface of the pool cleaner? If I can get away with less GPM then I'd definately look towards that. Unfortunately, I don't know the pool well enough to know what I can get away with in keeping the pool...

    New Pool, odd results?

Modified the pump schedule to 120 gpm for 2 hours morning/afternoon followed by 40 gpm for 2 hours. Pool school notes 8 hours if the pump is variable, but I figure we'll start at 4 and work our way up depending on if I need more FC, or if the pool needs a bit more time to be clean.

    New Pool, odd results?

Just got the electricity bill for the last few weeks...yah its definitely going to get changed.

    New Pool, odd results?

I figured the current schedule was crazy high, but I wasn't going to change too many variables until I got the FC nailed down. Since jandy notes that the SWG is most efficient at 40-50 GPM and running at a lower gpm for a longer period of time will save on electricity I'll go ahead and modify...

    New Pool, odd results?

Jandy wasn't kidding when it was at least 197 minutes. I called around noon and got a call back at around 5pm. They had a few suggestions. They mentioned I should reduce my pump time, this wasn't surprising as the pump was turning over the pool 4 times over the period of 9 hours in the...
