Closing pool - questions about chemicals

Stupid question- If you close the pool early and have a dark cover, (no light really getting in) and you do have some algae growth won't it die off in the winter? Thanks.

    Air going through my pump

Leak found and repaired. Last homeowner put pucks in the skimmer, ate away the piping. Also flex line used. Not good. All set now.

Same here. Small frog made it to the pump basket and released back into the wild. Seemed ok to me.

Need help picking a new pump

I also have a single speed pump and love my Heyward Super Pump. My last pump lasted over 10 years and I replaced it as preventative maintenance to avoid a breakdown. Hayward W3SP2610X15 Super Inground Pool Pump, 115/230V, 1.5HP

Thinking of a VS pump. What size?

Looks like all 3 will do the job. Anyone have a preference good or bad on these 3 motors? Disadvantages/advantages of one over the other? Thanks.

Thinking of a VS pump. What size?

Looks like both of the pumps you linked will work for me. Thanks for all that info. I see both will work with 115v and 1.5 inch pipe size. I was worried about dropped 2 inch to 1.5 inch and it choking down the pump.
