Is pool heater replacement ok to DIY?

Recently layed off work and trying to save some $. Need a new pool heater prior to Spring startup. I am handy around the house. I've replaced our water heater, replaced my car radiator very comfortable with electrical work and piping. But before I attempt to replace our water heater, I wanted...

    Pool Heater BTU question

My current heater is 250,000 BTU and served us well for 20 years. It has finally gone to heater heaven and the replacement I am looking at is 266,000 BTU. Is the extra 16,000 BTU negligible enough that I wouldn't need to inquire about an upgraded meter at the house?

    Replacement Heater Recommendation

I have a Laars Lite2 LD250N (250K BTU, Natural Gas) heater that has finally crossed over... It gave us 20 good years of service. What model would you all recommend to replace it with? Keep with same BTU rating I assume? We have a 20x40 with 6 ft deep end. TIA!

Liner wrinkles caused by chemical imbalance?

Thank you. That is my suspicion as well. If we have the pool drained and inspect the liner and find it is still good, can the liner be stretched out and re-used, or is a new liner typically needed in cases like this?

Liner wrinkles caused by chemical imbalance?

I have wrinkles in my liner that have progressively gotten worse over the last 3 years. When I noticed the first wrinke, I inspected it thoroughly to see if there was any puncture in the liner that could have caused it. I didn't find anything. It got worse later in the summer so I had our pool...

    Trichlor in skimmer bad?

Thank you! Yes, Cal Hypo tabs are what I have been using in the past but unfortunately I can't find them anywhere. Nevertheless, I'll take the Tri-Chlor tabs back as I certainly don't want to inhibit the iron from precipitating.

    Trichlor in skimmer bad?

I fill from well water which is very high in iron. To reduce iron, I typically fill my pool through the skimmer and place 1" chlorine tablets in the skimmer to release the iron and filter it out. Now the only tablets I can find are tri-chlor and I've heard it may not be recommended to put...

    Waterguru Inaccurate Readings

I used the waterguru all last summer with pretty good results overall. Seemed pretty accurate as long as the flow was good. This summer with a new cassette I've noticed the FC readings have been consistently lower than reality by about 2ppm. Now, all of a sudden over last 3 days, it is...

    Should I reduce TDS?

After opening this year, my pool guy said my TDS level was 205ppm. He said anything above 200 can start to become a problem with being able to maintain correct ph, clorine etc levels. This is not a salt water pool. I've owned this pool for 15 years and have not once ever tested for TDS. Any...

    Waterguru Accuracy

I love the idea of this product and ordered one. I've been using now for about 3 weeks and am seeing wildly inconsistent FC readings. PH readings seem pretty close. For two days in a row now it is telling me FC 0 and my dpd test is showing FC 4. I've sent 2 email requests to their support...
