Basically thinking that if we already have power supply, relays, smart switches that connect via wifi, zigbee, etc...it's very possible that there are valves/actuators that can do the same allowing for a DYI semi automated system.

Thank you Herman, I actually have this exact same plate from Amazon but it sinks too deep into the neck of the skimmer, that's why I was still hesitant that was the solution. I may need one about half an inch bigger.

Hello all, I'm having an issue where the vacuum hose is getting strangled(and eventually breaking) at the 90 degrees angle right above the connection to the bottom of the skimmer of my pool. I'm assuming there needs to be a solution out there for this. Can someone point me to it? Thank you...

I'll answer my own question in case someone else finds it in the future. I called SalPollGuys and they said it was OK to wire it directly, not behind the pool timer. The Pool Pilot Digital has a flow switch that shuts down the cell as soon as there is no flow coming. I've tested it and it works...
