    The shaft seal has a two ceramic surfaces that touch and make the seal. Any damage to either one of these will cause a leak. One side is fixed and the other side is spring loaded. The spring pushes the two faces together.

    You need to figure out why they made contact. As for the leak, where was it leaking from? If it was the motor side of the housing, I would replace the pump shaft seal.

    The pressure on the discharge of the filter is lower than the discharge pressure of the pump. There is friction (pressure loss) thru the fittings and filter.

    Its a SquareTrade Warranty. It adds 4 years after Haywards warranty. If the protected item is damaged and SquareTrade determines it can be repaired, 100% of the cost of parts and labor is covered. If your item can’t be repaired, SquareTrade will contact you to discuss replacement options.

    Typically a pump has NPT threaded connection (1.5" or 2"). You need to provide more info. Make and model of pump, photo of pump and fittings. Do the fittings have any numbers stamped on them?
