Yet another Texas pool build!

I like that picnic table!! The playset DH built for the kids a few years ago has a little picnic bench but not the same! That picnic table is kind of awesome. Sigh. Going on the list of things I need. Umm... Your pool build is going to give you years of storytelling. Lol!

The Picnic table is pretty neat for families I think. Easy to clean and durable. Sort of portable (it is pretty heavy).

They also make the same thing for kids. Same design but smaller.

I'm sorry the pavers didn't come clean. Hopefully the change-out won't take long and will be painless for you.
What type of sealer will you be using?

I really like the shed you posted. Our HOA doesn't have a bunch of restrictions except no outbuildings (and a few other things). We were just notified last week that they have amended this to allow for small moveable sheds that are shorter that do not extend above the fence height. This may be a great option for us. Thanks for the tip!

We have two Lifetime deck boxes and they are first rate. Hopefully the horizontal shed is of same high quality.

Well now that the torrential down pour of 2016 is over I spent some time getting more stuff ready for swim season. Yesterday I made a dump run. I got rid of our old patio set plus a bunch of trash we generated and I couldn't dispose of because of foot issues.

Today I put together the other two loungers and moved them from our dining room to the pool. Not quite sure how we want to arrange them yet. My 4 year old demonstrated how to chill out on them. The only thing left I have to do is put together the outdoor shower. My wife also plan on going to look at conversation sets for on our raised deck and maybe a bar set for at the pool. I didn't realize how much space we have. I am glad I went with the largest deck that was quoted.

Hi Umm.... I'm just catching up on your thread. OMG - so much has happened. I know why your pool build has taken so long - so we can keep up with you and your family.

I should have brought tissues to catch up with you. My heart is so heavy for you and your family losing Sprinkles. Golly, we love our pets, don't we? No matter how old they are, I always call them 'my babies'. I've been that way about pets all my life. As an adult, it's been all cats. For me, they are lower maintenance than dogs. So, I soak up being with dogs when visiting my friends - and my grand-dog, Willie. We've lost so many cats to different things - but so many because we've always kept 3-5 cats at a time (Kim, I know you're rolling your eyes at that number! Lol!!!). My son and I were a little concerned about the pool being dug, because we've had so many funerals and burials in this yard over the last 27 years. But none of the crews ever mentioned finding a casket, so I guess we were lucky. The last 3 cats we lost died within a year of each other close ,about 7-8 years ago. I didn't think my heart would ever mend. When I started living alone, those 3 babies were all the company I had until my son moved back home. I remember when I was younger and was so grieved over a cat, I told my mom that I could never have another pet and go through that pain again. Like someone mentioned above on your thread, Mom told me our love was meant to be given. She also said our hearts would just keep getting bigger and bigger for any number of pets we wanted and could manage. From then on, I've always adopted another cat soon after a loss. I won't say that it's easy, but my heart mends faster because the love for the new 'baby' blooms and blossoms. So almost 8 years ago we adopted the 3 we have now - Toby, Max, and Dante (didn't start out to get 3, only wanted 1 to cut down on work around here, but my plan didn't exactly match that of the Big Guy's plan. Lol!) Not a day passes that Nick and I aren't laughing over something one or all of them has done. And like dogs, these guys come running to the door when we get home. That unconditional love can't be beat.

One last thought - I love the Rainbow Bridge, and rely on it to help me through the loss of a furry loved one. And about 20 years ago, a friend gave me comfort with a visual I'll never forget. She said she envisions when she gets to Heaven, all her lost furry loves come bounding and racing to get to her, knocking her over with kisses, slurps, and barks and meows of loving greetings. I just love that! Boy, I tell ya', if I make it 'There' someday, I'm going to have a herd of pets coming at me - oh what joy!!!

I've gotta run, so comments on your pool will have to come later. Reading about Sprinkles brought on a rush of memories and emotions - just had to respond.

Much love to you and your family, Ummm...
Suz

Josh, your pool is gorgeous! You do have really great deck space. Would love to see more pictures as you continue with your swim season prep.
Your little cutie makes a great lounge chair model!

How's the foot doing?

He looks right at home! It looks awesome!!

Thank you! It is amazing what getting the clutter gone and getting furniture out will do for the feeling of the pool. I still want more chairs down there for people to sit but I think we are almost there!

LOVE that smile! Josh that looks awesome! That is what it is all about!

Kim

Yep he is pretty excited. My 4 yo and 7yo have been spending lots of time in the pool while I have been putting things together or cleaning leaves. They really love it. The water is a bit brisk so my 12 yo isn't willing to get in yet. (it is at 69 degrees).

Thanks Suz! Not sure if we are ready for replacement pets yet. I agree with you on the dogs. Right now we tend to go on vacations and the dog is like trying to find someone to watch a kid. I might be willing to get another cat but the dog is pretty high maintenance so when he passes we'll probably hold off and have a break for awhile.

That sure is a pretty blue, umm!

Thanks I really love the finish! I might be like a parent who thinks their kid is the smartest and prettiest but I truly love the finish of the pool and how it came out. I don't regret that one bit (often I regret color/finish choices on things when I see someone else's thing).

How's the foot doing?

Foot is ok. Not sure how it will heal yet. I don't have any pain so that is good. I do still have dark spots. I have a foot dr. appt. tomorrow so we'll see.

I must have missed it, but was wondering where you got those chaise lounges from?

I pieced them together from sales the end of last year. The chaises are from Ikea. Here is a link FALSTER Chaise - gray, - IKEA. My wife and I were at Ikea and we always check out the scratch and dent section and never buy anything from there. Well last year we were walking through and they had these three loungers in there. The boxes were really tore up but the chaises were perfect with no damage and all parts were there. Plus they were priced at $59/each. I was holding off buying furniture until we had measurements of how the deck would turn out but the deal was too good to pass up.

The cushions I bought from Lowes when they were liquidating their patio furniture etc... I think I got the cushions for around $20/each. Here is a link Shop Garden Treasures Green Stencil Green Stencil Floral Cushion For Chaise Lounge at Lowes.com

So I have about $80/each in the chaise loungers.

Well today I managed to get my first swim in. BUUURRRRRR. My kids have been swimming for awhile but let me tell you... 72 degree water temp is way too cold for me.

I have had off the past couple days for spring break so I have been getting some other bits done. I put together our outdoor shower and it looks nice! I got it on clearance too for something like $50 I think. We also bought 3 tiki torches at target to help keep mosquitos at bay. My neighbor recommended them. I also took my green egg apart and got it down on the pool deck. The bummer is I realized the base is cracked. Usually they come with a lifetime warranty but since this one was given to me by someone who received it as a gift the warranty doesn't apply to me. I plan on using it until I don't feel it is safe and then I'll buy myself a new one. I am too addicted to using it now to do without.
