Yet another Texas pool build!

Can you lower the RPM? That will save money. We don't have a salt water system. But we were told when we were considering one that the RPM would be low and run longer. I was under the impression you could run it longer at a very low RPM. But I don't know.

I can lower it. I just don't know what is expected for run times for our area as far as filtration. I want my water clear and don't want to have murky water but at the same time I don't want to be running my pool far beyond the necessary run times. I had my SWG set to 20% and in one day it went from 2PPM FC to 5.5PPM FC. I know this is winter so the demands are less. I turned it down to 10% for now and will see how it reads this evening. It is definitely a learning process.

I definitely have a love/hate relationship with the PDA system. I like how I can control my pool from the house since it is a flight of stairs down but it is SOOOO SLOWWWW. It drives me nuts. It is literally a minute or two before I can do anything on it. Plus I can't change the SWG setting without the pump running. Last night I went to adjust it after 8 and I had to turn the pump back on to change the SWG percentage. I write software for a living and this implementation is pretty poor if you ask me.

Ok so the PB put in a new mud screen behind my wall and fixed the plumbing and the water is turned back on. I'll be checking back on it tonight as it was dark after I got home. They tried cleaning the pavers but I haven't seen them yet. If it didn't work this time then they'll have to replace them. I am almost done. I am hoping the techniseal paver cleaner worked and I won't have to deal with them ripping out things again...

We will need pics of it all!

I'll take some new pictures this weekend. I wanted to get photos of the pipe work because it is way better and that box that I had sticking out of the ground that should have been sunk is now sunk. I couldn't get any photos of any of it because I get home after dark on Wednesdays and they did all the work Wednesday and it was exposed. Then Thursday they filled in all the dirt before I could get photos of it. I'll get a photo of the after.

The only other thing is the pavers didn't clean up. So now they have to replace them. The issue is he said it would be about a month before they can get their paver crew out there. They are busy fixing other mess jobs so mine has to go into the queue.

Interesting that your PB overshot your salt like that. I totally just did that to mine. I don't know why I had it in my head that 16 bags was the right number, but then I later ran the calculator and it turned out that something like 11 was the right number.

I started off with 7500 ppm, then emptied the pool over a 3rd by rinsing through the filter and filled it back up. Now I'm at 3900 ppm and my water isn't as purdy. Other than the water being a little more salty than necessary, are there any problems with having a high salt concentration?

I think the only issue if the salt isn't insanely high is your SWG might decide it is too high for it to function and go into an error mode. Mine is happily making chlorine so I am guessing it is ok for now. I'll keep an eye on it as the water heats up. I know my kids will do their part getting water out of the pool so if it is generating chlorine this summer than I will leave it and let it naturally decrease.

Sorry still no photos I am too lazy and have been super busy this weekend so far. Last night we went to Costco and we ended up seeing lifetime brand folding picnic tables. We decided since the kids were little and are prone to destroying anything nice we are going to put off paying for nice furniture for around the pool. We'll just eat off the picnic table for now. Our existing table and chairs are 10 years old at least so they are going to the dump next weekend. We also got a small shed that has the top that lifts up. I think it is 4' by 6' to hold toys and my hoses/nets for the pool.

Today I got up and went to lowes and bought a new hose reel for the back yard and got my hose hooked up to my hose bib that now functions. Then I cleaned my cartridge filter for the first time. That was much easier than I thought it would be. I did make a big mud mess over there because of all the water that drained from the filter. I wonder if there is a way to get it to drain back to the pool instead of in the dirt?

I then put together the picnic table and got part of the shed put together. I had to stop and get cleaned up because we have date night tonight. Oh and I did my daily ritual of getting leaves out of the pool...

We also decided to go cheap on the furniture for now. Of all the things we should spend money on the first time around that wasn't one I could get behind. Especially with changing needs over the next few years. When Walmart was closing in our area we bought a bunch of furniture at 50% off. Our other solution was going to be craigslist.

We were going to spring though for one of these two items (don't know which):
Kontiki Conversation Sets - Wicker Daybeds, Evina Day Bed - Contemporary - Outdoor Lounge Sets - by BD Manufacturing
Coral Coast Del Rey Double Chaise Lounge with Canopy - DR-9L097A-DB

Those are nice! We will probably splurge for a nice conversation set with a loveseat, chairs, and coffee table to put up on the deck so we can set out there at night and enjoy the view. Everything at pool level will be for the kids so it will be cheap for now.

Nice... the only thing to watch out for: we got a couple of cheap chairs from Wal-Mart in that sale that were really close to the ground - perfect for on the sun deck. However, they leave some funky stains on the kool cote. not sure why. It comes out, but it's super annoying. Perhaps pavers are not as concerning for that anyway.

Thanks for the concern. I worry about the pavers because they seem to be easy to stain. I definitely am going to seal them when my PB is finally finished.

We'll probably stick with the lifetime folding table and the chaise loungers we got in the scratch and dent at Ikea. After we have some experience in the summer about what our needs are we'll re-evaluate.

Umm, can you post some pics of your tables and loungers? Sorry if you've already done that but I'm too lazy to search for them! :D

Sorry no photos today. I heard rain is coming so the loungers are still in the house. Plus I had a bunch of cardboard I had to cut up that was in the back yard. And I finished putting my shed together.

Here is the loungers post with the cushions. I paid 59 each for the loungers and I think around 20 for the cushions. So 80 total and I have three of them.

This is the picnic table. It was 129 when I got it.

This is the shed it was 299 we got it mainly for pool toys. The latch was for a normal paddle lock not the one pictured with built in lock but otherwise it is the same.

I remember when you go those loungers and cushions! That was a long time ago aka "before the pool was dones" LOL

I like that shed! I might have to look into one of those!

Kim

Yep I got them at the end of July last year. We thought we were almost done haha!!!

And it is just past the 1 year anniversary of when I started this thread and we still aren't done with the PB.
