Yet another Texas pool build!

Those beads really show up good in the pics. I bet they are even better in person!

You got to see your pool in the sunlight!!!!!!!!!! I bet it was awesome!

Good for you making sure they do not mess up this last bit. At least they are moving on it!

LOL yeah dirt will fix the water area!

The beads look gorgeous, Umm!

I'm glad to hear your foot is doing better!
I giggled a bit when you related how you went off on the pool company owner, good for you! Sometimes you just gotta kick behind to get stuff done!!
now that they made the template, is it still 3-4 weeks???
I just don't even know what to say about your plumbing....just shaking my head and praying I don't have any of those issues.

I hope you don't either! I totally expect to have issues but my thought was if there was an issue they would come back and resolve it. Not tear up my yard over and over and over and over and over again to never get it fixed. That is the problem. With any construction there will be issues and some you might have to live with. Mine seems like even the most simple of things that most contractors should know are lost on my builder.

Your glass beads are fabulous! And I love the color! Great job on your selections! I know it looks even better in person. Try shooting the picture at an angle rather than straight on. I had better luck that way when capturing the sparkle of the shells.

This is so wonderful! I can't put into words how happy I am for you!

Be ever so careful with your foot!

Suz.

Thanks Suz! I did try to get one at an angle and I think that is my first photo. I just really have trouble getting the glass photos to look as good as they should. I have a nicer camera I just haven't tried to lug it down there for this yet. I'll try later but I don't exactly trust myself yet carrying that heavy camera down there and getting close to the water yet with my foot. I might try after the new year. We basically have a week and a half until we go to California. I have a friend that I trust that is going to watch the pool for me while we are gone.

I am so happy with the pool finish (and the overall pool actually). I just will be more happy when the PB is out of my life!

Umm, your pool looks great. I have enjoyed keeping up with your thread. I know you probably cannot wait for summer. But for now you can look out and see that pool. So pretty!

Thanks we definitely can't wait for summer. By this weekend it might be in the 80's. I am sure the kids will beg me to get in the pool. We have been too busy lately for them to think about it but this weekend I expect some begging to occur.

As far as the chemicals go I am doing pretty good. I have to put about 1/4 gallon of MA in my pool every other day. I think it is because the PB wants it at 7.2 and frankly it doesn't want to stay there. No biggie. I hardly have to add bleach. Maybe 10 to 20 oz of bleach every week since I got over the initial hump of no chlorine. This is to keep it at 1PPM. My plan is after the PB is done and out of my life I'll kick it up but for now he wants it at 1ppm so I am obeying. My water is in the 50's anyway so I don't think much can grow in there right now.

For the TA it goes down and I put in about 10 pounds a week of baking soda. I am hoping that that becomes less and less as the MA usage lowers.

My CYA is in the 40's so I'll have to increase that when the SWG is online.

I finally increased my CH. I bought 20 pounds of de-icer off of amazon. I added that to the pool and it went up from 125 to 250 so now I just need a bit more. I'll wait for that until the SWG is online and I'll try to get it up to 300.

Here are my last measurements:
FC: 1.5
CC: 0-.5
PH: 7.2
TA: 90-100
CH: 250
CYA: 40

No need to worry or work with the SWG as your water is too cold. I forget when it stops working. I have seen it said to not worry about adding salt until ?? degrees in the Spring. I will let you do the research on the temps.

I am SO happy to see you have a VERY firm grasp on your levels! Nice job! You will never have to worry about a green swamp!

Let the kids in! It will not hurt them! Of course their little lips will turn blue but they will swear up and down "But I am not cold Daddy" as they climb out of the pool! You can spoil them with warm towel fresh from the dryer when they are done! Make sure to tell them Ms. Kim said they could get in! LOL

Well still no railing...

We go to Cali on Thursday morning. I have a friend who is going to watch the pool for me while we are gone. I basically ramped up the TA so he wouldn't have to add any baking soda. All he really has to watch is the pH and chlorine. I showed him that and boiled it down to how much to add for my pool so he doesn't have to use the pool calculator.

We had a crazy storm last night. I can't catch a break I have been hemorrhaging money the past few months. Right before thanksgiving I lost part of my roof singles. Then last night the wind uprooted a 40' tree in my back yard and I had to hire a tree guy to come remove it as it is leaning on some utility lines on the poles that run along the neighbor's yards behind me. Oh well I am blessed that it didn't do more damage.

Oh and I forgot to add they added my polaris yesterday. Then today it did as much of a job it could on the leaves. It was super full when I got home. I left before it was really light and got home around 3. We must have had an insane amount of leaves because both my skimmer baskets were also full. I had just cleaned everything out the day before.

My foot is doing pretty good for walking etc... The problem is it has having problems fully closing so I got an infection on Wednesday. I am on antibiotics again and hoping it closes up soon. I have another appt tomorrow. I need to be fully in shoes by beginning of Feb because I have another trip to Berlin then for work. I am not allowed to wear a normal shoe until it is closed because he doesn't want my foot bending until then.

Oh and I am having too much fun with the LED lights. Tonight was Caribbean Blue. I actually like the lighter colors because I can see the beads in the pool.

What have they said about the railing?
40' tree leaning on wires??? SCARY. I bet it did cost a pretty penny to get that taken care of!

Poor foot and you. What do they have you putting on it to help heal it?

HUGS that the money stays in your pocket instead of other stuff!

Kim

Umm, never a dull moment! I totally understand the money drain. Our pool was our drain. There was just so many things we "needed" to make it perfect. [emoji3]
Glad that tree didn't fall on your pool. We had high wind too. It turned over our potted plant and blew around some other items.
Our Polaris has been full lately too (we only have one small tree). I hope your foot gets better. It's no fun having issues with feet and not being able to wear shoes. Praying that it heals before Berlin.

With the 80 degree weather we had last week, too bad you couldn't have cranked up the heater (or have you passed the 30 day mark already?) and let the kids jump in!

We don't have a heater. We chose not to get a spa. I am kind of wishing I would have gotten one because I really want to be in the water right now and a hot tub would be nice. But then again I can't because of my foot. It is a conundrum. In reality we hardly ever use hot tubs and I know it would just be a play pool for the kids so I chose against it. My dream hot tub would be up on our deck with views of the hill country but that will have to be later. I would want to make sure I got an engineer out to make sure it is safe. (Our deck is mostly on slab except for 3' of overhang so I could have the hot tub on slab completely).

Honestly I haven't talked to the pool company at all. I have the direct number to the start up guy so I have been talking to him directly about the equipment and the polaris. I really need to go pester them but I don't really have any time right now. My foot and the appointments have been taking a bunch of time. Then on top of that it is Christmas time so my kids have plays etc... that I have been going to so I really haven't had a chance to even think about the pool company. Plus add dealing with roofing and tree problems and that just wiped out all of my time. The PB is probably happy about that haha.

Fortunately I have a guy for trees that a coworker recommended to me. He is very very very backwoods type of guy and very hard to understand. But he is reasonable. He is the one who removed all the cedars and the trees where the pool is sitting in my yard. Talking to him is kind of like this "WellwegonnaripthatthingrightoutthereyepandIgottawinchandwehoaoahwoahwoahdoawhatree how about 300?" Then I say sure.
Yesterday he cracked me up because I called him on Sunday and he said something to the extent that he could come by because all he is doing is watching the cowboys and they weren't going to score anything anyway so he might as well come over.

My foot all he is doing is giving me antibiotics. I think there is some risk to my toe's blood supply so he doesn't want me doing anything too harsh with it. I plan on asking more today. The hope was I would start taking the antibiotics and in a couple days it would start healing. That hasn't happened so far and I started them on Thursday and I have been good about taking them.

That is the scary part is we haven't even started buying stuff for the pool yet besides chemicals. So I know that money drain is coming. I did buy 3 chaise and an outdoor shower during on deep discount when stores were trying to get rid of summer stuff last year. So frankly all I really need now is something to put stuff in like a deck box and we probably need a new outdoor dining table because ours is dying its final death. I also need to figure out how I am going to store my poles and equipment. Right now they are just sitting outside on the deck because the kids aren't out their much. I have to have them up by spring or they'll destroy them. I have been trying to hold that money aside and I am getting really close to needing it with all this other stuff coming up.

I was thinking about you yesterday and wondering about your foot and your railing. Maybe you should go to a wound clinic or ask about a wound vac to get that wound to close. Are you diabetic? Or do you just have some other sort of circulation issues. Please be very very very diligent and cautious!
I bet you could get Kim to call about your railing since you are very tied up! She'd enjoy it, too!

Enjoy your babies in their plays and programs! I miss that time of life but now I'm doubly enjoying my grandchildren in their programs. They have their first school one tomorrow after our loan closing. The two oldest are both 4 and in preK at the same school but different classrooms, which is probably a good ting since they are inseparable and insist they are getting married when they grow up. They call themselves "cousins of married" (whatever that means).

Thanks! That is too funny about them wanting to get married.

I am not diabetic. The issue is I have had two surgeries done to the same toe and he said that can cause problems with blood supply due to cutting into something so much that has limited supply to begin with. Thanks for the info I'll ask him when I get there. It really is a small area that is open and he thinks it is minor. Just to me it is a royal pain because I am really tired of the walking boot haha.

I'm glad to hear you are not dealing with diabetes as diabetics have difficulty healing due to poor circulation and often require amputations. Sad.

ummmmmm too funny about the tree guy LOL blah, blah, blah $$ great price! nod and say sure!

I am afraid things will not slow down for a little while yet with us being right in the middle of the holidays but soon!

At least you have money to buy food and pay for the power! All is good and will be worked out!

I will do some thinking on your tool storage. I have a couple of ideas but want to have time to look back over your pictures to see what you have around the pool. If it is not too much trouble could you take a picture from the back of your yard towards the house.

Yeah I will after the holidays. Unfortunately I won't be home until after dark the rest of the week and we are leaving early AM on Thursday.

Sounds good to me! I promise to keep the price down LOL

Kim

I hope so!

Tree is still up. He said he would be here tomorrow. He got stuckintrafficonthesomewheretrimmintreesgetthatdowninthemornin...

My dr seems ok with how my toe is doing. He said that it could be a few weeks for it to heal up all the way since I had some skin die on my toe from the lack of blood. He just said continue to keep it clean and watch it carefully when the antibiotics are out. He said to call him and he'll write me another script I can pick up in Cali if it gets infected again during my trip.

Glad he is happy with your healing. I hope this will clear it up the rest of the way. Can you put any antibiotic cream on it to help it along the way?

Kim

He said he doesn't want me putting anything on it besides just keeping it clean with antibacterial soap. He said that a lot of what I am seeing is my body putting white blood cells there to try to restore that open wound. If I put stuff on it it can delay the healing.
