Another Pool Build in Cypress, TX

You are right... Something just comes over me, and I go a little nutty. Breathe.... OK, I'm good now.
Thanks!
Suz.

Let me just say, if you do the work now before it's done, you will be proud. It looks FABULOUS!...but just remember, you'll be living with this for years possibly decades. Working for Disney has taught me that the attention to the details takes it "one step above the rest."

And...if you are like me you will be noticing "that one weird thing" for years to come. Luckily Jan knows this and keeps me on a tight leash. LOL

Quote by ITR: BTW, that last picture you posted with the bench looks perfect...except...measure the space between each tile if you want them that way. That was the last step I did to please Jan. End Quote.

Every time I hit "Reply with Quote" on this particular post, an earlier post of mine pops up.....????

By the time I went out to try tiles on the Pony Step, I had a 50-50 tie on the number of tiles to set on the bench. I asked my son to break the tie. He said to use 11 tiles. So in the picture you are referring to with 9 tiles, there will now be 11 tiles. I just thought I'd correct the info.

The tile guy just now made it to Paris's pool which is quite a ways from here. And, Paris has a lot more trim to be installed than I do. I'll be surprised if he makes it down here today. That gives me more time to play with tile arrangements - all for fun, MK!

I LOVE this part! Other people sit back and let the builder just do what they want. Here we are measuring out spaces between glass. This rocks.

Agreed. I drove my PB insane. The GC said he didn't have to do much "on-site" work since I was on top of it...but told me "You're driving my contractors a bit nuts." (dude, I even uploaded time-lapsed videos to YouTube every major day). I told him, "Yeah, well you aren't funding it and certainly won't be looking at it for the rest of your life."

And just think...if I didn't do all of this...how insane they would really go if I wasn't in the middle and Jan the detailed-oriented-Goddess was working with them directly.

We just got back from WDW! It's one of my favorite places to vacation!!

Thank you...it's always good to be reminded what we do makes a difference! I've been there 18 years and extremely happy with the company. We appreciate your visit and hope you'll visit us soon!

Marla this is one of the funnest forums you will ever find. We all love to help and encourage each other. Several of us have become friends even in real life. We jump into and out of each others thread. We tease and have a blast laughing and sharing ideas.

No worries about having fun.

Suz, sounds like your on the right track. I've been on business travel and unable to respond.

I'm pretty sure your tile installer used thinset and not grout to set your glass tile. It's not a huge problem, he probably went with their common grey thinset instead of the white version lightstreams recommends. The stuff they used is probably ok for glass installations.

I like both the 9 and 11 diamond patterns for your bench. Regardless of which you choose its going to look awesome, so I wouldn't sweat the details too much!

Can't wait to see plaster!

good for you, I see too many people in day to day life (and here on TFP pool threads) that are afraid to treat the contractor for what he is...someone YOU pay to put in what YOU want. too many people are afraid to put their foot down and say no to things and to question them. People want to treat them like you are friends, and you are not (unless you hired a friend, lol), its a business partnership. I guarantee the contractor sees it that way, but so many people don't.

I see threads on people complaining about the quality of the work or an item the GC did and they refuse to tell them no, I don't accept it, tear it out and build it per plan. yeah they will complain about it, but if its their mistake, well then too bad. next time maybe they are more careful.

The tile guy came last evening. He's the same guy who did the tile on Paris's pool.

He was awesome - knows his stuff and did a great job. I've got some errands this morning, so I'll post pictures later.

Patrick: I was told yesterday: Plaster Friday; acid wash Saturday ; water fill Saturday, Sunday; pool guy Monday morning to start pumps, etc.

Soon, very soon!
Suz.

I need to get some pics of the complete inside of the pool but to answer your question:

I purchased just at 90 linear ft of shells and it went on every edge I had in the pool. Jacuzzi bench w/pup step, steps to the tanning ledge, 3 benches in pool and 2 pup step outs.

Very happy with the install and only had about 4 strips left for my daughter to play with. :)

Paris, all I can say is WOW!

Where did the shells go in the rest of the pool?
