ChatGPT made a recommendation for a VSP Hayward Aqualogic P4 compatible pump, can I have your opinion on it please

I guess that I am confused.

You are talking about getting a used variable speed pump, so why are the pictures of a single speed pump?

Are you getting the pump and replacing the motor with a variable speed motor?
I’m sorry, completely my fault, and thank you for pointing it out!

I was sure it was a variable speed Tristar but it wasn’t, my fault.

@JamesW and anyone else that might know.

I might have just got really lucky with one that just came on the market from an out of business sale for really really cheap, but it’s a little confusing and I want to make sure I’m buying the right thing.

The seller provided me these photos, it says Ecostar 2HP on the body, but on one of the components it shows Tristar model SP3200DR, and on another label it shows 2HP and 2.7 THP.

Googling SP3200DR tells me it’s a retrofit kit.

Am I good with this, is it powerful enough? Has the Aqualogic integration I think. I’m confused because after researching I thought the only models were
EcoStar (SP3400VSP) and TriStar VS (SP3200VSP)

Software versions necessary to operate the TriStar VSP.

Aqua Logic/Pro Logic/Aqua Plus v2.65 or higher.

My Aqualogic firmware is 2.65, so I should be good!

Based on that would you recommend that pump? I was just so confused on googling that SP3200DR that shows it’s a retrofit kit but the assembly looks like it’s original from the pictures.

The HP is good right? and it had the Aqualogic integration and it should be way better than my 1HP super pump that I’ve been struggling with.

I was just hesitant because I didn’t see SP3200VSP written on it from the pictures.

That is the part number for the drive unit only.

The drive sits on the motor and converts 230 volts, single phase, 60 hz, into 3 phase power for the motor.

V2.65 has only very limited ability to control a variable speed pump.

There is a very high likelihood of the pump not working.

I would consider it at least 50% chance the pump will not work when you get it.

The person seems reputable, offered me a warranty too.

After looking at the pictures, I revise the chance of not working up to 99.999%.

The bearings are probably bad.

Just my opinion.

See if they will allow you to pay only after you get it installed and working for at least a week.

Even if they say it is, it is highly unlikely that they will actually do that.
True, at my price point I’m definitely taking the chance because it’s like a fire sale.

Based on the pictures I sent can you help me clarify if this is an Ecostar or a Tristar? The body says Ecostar, but the 3200DR refers to a Tristar, so I’m a little confused on which I’m getting.
