Good evening guys, I'm new to the forum and fairly new to the pool world. 4th year with an 15' Intex above ground pool. Up until this year I've had zero problems with my pool. Upon uncovering pool water was green unlike previous years. I have been trying for a little over a week in getting the water clear but haven't had any luck. I have managed to get the water to a light blue ocean colored type water but it is very cloudy and can not see the bottom. I have shocked it twice now and still not clear and a little lost on what to do now. So here is my test results from a Taylor k-2005 salt test kit:
FC: 1-2ppm
TC: 3-6ppm
CC: 1-2ppm
pH: 7.8
TA: 120ppm
CH: 110ppm
CA: 100ppm
SALT: 3200ppm
BR: 2-4ppm
My pool holds 4440 gallons of water. I run an Intex Sand filter system 1600gph along with an Intex Krystal Clear Saltwater generator (not turned on at the moment). The pool also has the Intex skimmer and a sprayer fountain. I've had some people tell me I needed to raise my chlorine levels up higher to really shock pool until it clears up. So that's why I'm here. Can someone please help me with what I need to do? Thanks guys

You will need an fas dpd test kit for that. Your k2005 is missing this.
Or Taylor https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai...p9qWkZ-NAxW0SzABHd5VAB8Qwg8oAHoECAYQDQ&adurl=
If your cya is reading over 90 then you need to do the diluted test (see step 8)
To confirm your true cya so you can replace the appropriate amount of water as doing the slam process with cya over 70 or so takes alot of chlorine which isn’t cheap. Ideally it would be better at 30-50ppm for slam.
See —> FC/CYA Levels

Until you have that fas dpd kit and can slam properly just add 5ppm worth of liquid chlorine each day to keep things from getting worse.

Good evening guys, I backwashed and rinse the sand filter and then added 1 gallon of liquid chlorine this morning. I retested just now and now my cya level is below what my kit lowest results show. So the cya is 20ppm or below. I have ordered the FAS/DPD kit addition and will arrive tomorrow. My free chlorine level raised to 10-20ppm and my total chlorine was the same at 10-20ppm. All other test results are within the ideal range/goals to reach. I am attaching a picture of the pool water. It is not as cloudy as it was as I can see my brush almost to bottom of pool. Is my levels ready for the slam yet once I receive my FAS/DPD kit tomorrow? Or what should I do now? I really appreciate the help guys

FC/CYA Levels

I too am confused about your cya.
Show us the level the dot disappeared on the vial.
Hey guys, sorry for the confusion. I guess I messed up on one of the tests, so I redone them with FAS/DPD test as well. Results as follows:
FC- 10 ppm
TC- 10 ppm
CC- 0 ppm at step 5 the sample didn't turn pink so I stopped
pH- 8.0
TA- 120 ppm
CH- 110 ppm
CYA- 60 ppm
Salt- 3000 ppm
BR- 20 ppm
I am also attaching a photo of the CYA- TEST from my Taylor's K2005 kit. I know mh pH is high, along with the pH. But with my pool being salt shouldn't my cya levels be around 30-40? The pool water is not to bad today but still no clear enough to see bottom of liner. Would a partial drain and refill help anymore?
Cya. Result below:

Hey guys, I wanted to thank all of you for your help with my pool water issue. I am on my second day of the slam process and keeping the FC level required and my pool water has cleared tremendously. I can now see my robotic vacuum on bottom of pool now. Thanks again for all of you guys that chimed in helping.
