I have a recently installed Hayward pump. Changed the filter and now no PSI.
The odd part is the cleaner pulses and the jets are flowing strong but PSI is only registering 5.
I lubed the O rings. Baskets are clean. Water is flowing in the round cylinder thing that fills when the pump starts and spews
water slightly due to pressure when the pump turns off.
Everything appears to be working except the PSI. I bought a new pressure valve but no change.
Any ideas I haven't tried?

If it's a variable speed pump not running full bore, welcome to massive energy savings. Many of us run 0 to 5 psi on lower speeds and the wattage output is only a fraction of what it used to be too.

Welcome to TFP.

What model pump and filter are we discussing?

What RPM are you measuring the PSI at?

05,

Many think that the higher the PSI the better the pump is working, which is not really true...

The filter gauge is really telling you how much effort it takes to push water through the filter.. The faster the pump is running, the more effort it takes, and the higher the PSI.. And the more electricity you will be using.

The whole point of having a VS pump is to run slower.. For me this means that my 30 lb. gauge only reads about 1 or 2 lbs. at 1200 rpm.. And I suspect you have the standard 60 lb. gauge.

Thanks,

Jim R.
