in Ground Spa water level

Hey Folks -

I'm trying to lower the level of my in ground Spa. As you can see on the picture the water level of the pool is lower much lower than the spa. Almost 1" difference. I'm trying to minimize spa overflow and reduce the heating of the spa.

I've lowered the pool level and assumed that the spa would lower at the same rate/ level which has not happened. That's how most bodies of water work - they all level. Somehow that's not happing with the sap.

Is the spa water level controlled with the valves ?

Is the spa water level controlled with the valves ? Or am I stuck with this level due to the spa jet pipe height ?

How the spa level is maintained is based on how the plumbing and valving is set up at the equipment pad.
Show photos of the overall equipment pad and specifically close ups of the return valve (after the heater going to pool) and the suction valve leading to the pump
 
It is difficult to see the spa water level from the size pic you posted.

Post pics of your equipment pad. If your spa it set to spillover when your pool is running the water level will not change.

Do you have automation?

I'll send a high res picture tomorrow.

I've have an Intellicenter and 2 Intellivalves.

Do I need to make pics with the pool in Spa mode ?

My equipment - heater/filter/pumps/valves are like 4-6 feet below water level.
 
The return valve in POOL mode is not fully closed to the spa. That circulates water through the pool and spa at the same time. Your spa level will always be overflowing into the pool in POOL mode with that flow.

You can stop the constant spa overflow by resetting the return valve to 24 when in POOL mode.

Then create a Feature Circuit, name it Spillway, and select Spillway for the Circuit Function.

Schedule the Spillway circuit to run for 20 minutes twice a day to refresh the spa water. Consider running the spillway at 9AM and 2PM.

That should keep the spa water level lower when in POOL mode.

Let me give this a shot - thank you very much.

One question - I see that there's a spillway option in the Feature Circuits - if I set this up do I have to program the vales or does the Intellicenter know the valve settings based on the Spillway Circuit ?

The valve functions for Spillway are hard coded. No setup required.

Spillway will suction from the pool and return all water through the spa.

Spillway circuit will work on either release.

3.002 is much improved from 1.064. You should upgrade ASAP.
 
I was able to create the Spillway circuit and schedule.

I'm struggling with reprogramming the IntelliValve. If I follow the instructions on the valve it keeps going back to 20 vs the 24 I saved as the new position.

Any tips ? Have not been able to find any re-programming videos or articles.
