I have a 3-way valve with a slow leak from the inside. I only noticed as I drained my heat pump, and this is on the line to the heat pump. The outside of the valve is dry, so it appears it's leaking (slow drip) around the diverter. I've swapped the full divertor and valve from a spare valve and it still leaks. Since it was a slow drip, I've also tried pool lube on around the diverter seal - no luck. What's the next best course of action? What other parts should be looked at?

There are only two parts - the housing and the diverter.

Check around the port opening in the housing. The diverter paddle needs to seal with the opening. That's all there is.

Thanks. Visibility is low due to the location, but the drip is coming from where the PVC is disconnected. Where the PVC connects to the valve is dry.

Drip from the red circle? That is not part of the diverter valve.

That is a union problem.

That connects to your heat pump? What model?

Check for an O ring in the union nut.

Yes, that area, but it's leaking now from the right where the diverter valve is. I disconnected the heat pump to drain and winterize it. When the union is connected it's fine and dry.

You have to be clearer about where the leak is.

Is the water coming from the inside of the pipe due to the diverter valve not sealing?

Or is the water coming from around the pipe from a joint where the white coupler is glued to the diverter?

I'm sorry, that's what I was trying to explain in my first post. The valve is dry all around. The leak is coming from inside the pipe/inside the valve. I have already swapped the diverter with another divertor from a spare valve. The leak continues.

The only thing you have there is the seal between the diverter and the port.

That's what I thought based on the diagram you shared and what I found previously. I didn't know if there were any other tricks to try. I've ordered a replacement diverter to see if that fixes it.

I would get a 3-way valve.

Put the diverter from the new valve into your housing. If that does not work then you have the new housing to install.
