Could anyone Calimar pump owners please kindly give their opinions now they have been running a couple of years (hopefully) With Black Friday coming up I am in the market for a variable speed pump and this one seems worth considering. Hopefully the member with the lack of response from them managed to get sorted out?

Are you looking at the 3HP or 1.5 HP Calimar VS pump?

If you are just looking to go to a VSP, why not look into replacing the motor on your existing pump with a variable-speed one. That would save replumbing the system to make a ne pump fit. Which Waterway pump do you have? A picture would be good. They make good pumps.

Thanks for taking the time to help! I Would welcome any advice, as new to all this.

The pump and motor were fitted new in 2021 by previous owner, I have the receipt - says cost was only $525!!!

The Pump has a sticker on saying "SMF Waterway" and copyright 2018 waterway plastics"

The motor says "Century thermally protected CET38ABM" and motor model K48AA27A79 its 230v 2.20hp 3450rpm 9.7 amps

Waterway "Champion" pump, CHAMPE120. The motor PoolStored recommends is a great motor, you would be happy. A GO KIT89V would have all the O rings, gaskets, shaft seal to complete the project.
Unless there is a Waterway label on the motor now, it is a replacement or it was a used pump for that price, $525.00. It does look like a replacement motor in the picture.

Not sure what I would need, its only a small pool currently a 2.2hp pump - It seems most have the 3hp on here and they are on offer (ending today!!) so need to make my mind up quick?

Thanks for this input, but so I completely understand are you suggesting to just change just the motor only purely to save on replumbing?

I'm confused as I can get a brand new Calimar VS 3hp pump with motor for $489 at moment which is as cheap as just replacing the motor as you suggest?

The plumbing side or it doesn't bother me as I#ve done plenty of waste plumbing in the house which looks similar and I would try to improve the flow with less 90 bends etc

The calimar pump is fantastic and have used quite a few. The only issue I had was I purchased the extended warranty and in one instance I had to take advantage of it as the pump stopped working. They honored it except it was on backorder 4 months so I had to throw something in there for the interim. On the other hand I've used a few Neptunes recommended by @PoolStored and they are very good.

Yes, that was the suggestion that we were making. The new calimar pump will require plumbing changes but is a good pump.

Post a link to the pump you are considering...we'll check it out for you.
Would I want the 1.5hp or 3hp one?? as the sales guy said I might be better with a 1.5hp as have a small pool (21ft x 12ft photo below - max depth 5ft, less 3 entry steps and a seat) - I've never been able to work out the gallons! I currently run the single speed 2.2hp pump twice a day for 2 hrs morning then 2 hrs night.

Or is it a better to have the stronger 3hp one and push it less or is that wasting energy savings? I want it to be strong enough to power my G3 Baracuda suction cleaner.

Also do I need to buy that automation panel with it to be able to manually program it? they sell it separate for $49

Sorry to be a pain but the sale ends tonight!!!

No, you do not need the automation adapter.

THANK YOU SIR! I went for it and have a 3hp Calimar on the way from Pool Supply Unlimited with the maximum extended warranty, $35 free shipping saving plus $30 off and and any new customer can get extra $10 off using code WELCOME. I looked at the replacement part costs of the pump which helped make my mind up.

Probably going to be bothering you with installation and set up questions now - Im sorry in advance!!!

I have 2 inch schedule 40 ppipe in the existing set up - should I have ordered mip to schedule 40 unions with the pump? (may be able to add if I call them in morning) Are all the unions a similar quality or is there a particular make/model I should use?
