Hi again, so I have completed my SLAM and MA SLAM after meeting all of the criteria but it is back and seems much worse than before, like I just made it angry. I cannot understand what I am missing. I have hand scrubbed the stairs with a chlorine/water solution, scrubbed any creases in the liner, the jet output, all parts of the skimmer etc. Is there a possibility MA can hide in the pipes of the pump, the pump itself or the filter? I cannot get rid of this and I have performed this process 2 times and about to begin the 3rd but need to make sure it is done perfectly this time. You can defeat it, but you will have trouble testing. Less chlorine and easier testing to let the FC come back to SLAM and finish that.
Thank you for the reply. I only maintain MA FC for 24 hours and let the level gradually come back down to normal range, which for me is 4-9 ppm (CYA 55) according to Pool Math and I always stay at the high end, and usually a little higher in the summer due to the extreme heat in Florida. In summer I keep it at 10-11 ppm but I never let it get lower than the minimum FC.Did you maintain the FC at MA Target levels after you were done with the process?
Minimum is 15% of CYA - Target should be 20% of CYA.
Thank you for your feedback. I will post pictures tomorrow with better detail but for now I can tell you we do not cover the pool, we have not had any toys in the pool for about 4 months now and they were soaked and scrubbed in a diluted chlorine solution, we have a net skimmer, an 8 foot pool brush and a robot cleaner and all of those things were also sterilized with the diluted chlorine solution. The only other thing tool we use in the pool skimmer is a skimmer sock that we change out about 2-3 times per week. Thanks again and I will post pictures tomorrow.Show us pictures of your pool and equipment, and it may give us ideas about where the algae can be hiding.
Do you cover the pool?
Do you have pool toys or equipment you put in the pool?
Show us everything that may go into the pool, other than the people.
FYI - 55 is not an acceptable measurement for CYA as the test is logarithmic. It's either 50, or if it's above 50 at all, it's 60.Thank you for the reply.
