Hey TFP Crew! I just finished a DIY install of a Hayward OmniLogic main panel (HLPRO4SW), + MaxFlo VSP, + T-9 Salt cell....Everything went well but my pump keeps losing Comm

I get the error: "MSP_DEV_COMM_LOSS,Comm Loss Device:VSP HUA:10-01-18-6e-8a"

To confirm pump is working, I am able to run it in standalone mode by switching back to the onboard headunit.

In the config wizard, the pump and HUA shows up, and Im able to connect and control, but it will drop out after 5-10mins. Ive factory reset, reconfigured, and after talking to Hayward support, tried to run in Service mode. Each of these things "work" but only for a short time.

Any thoughts on troubleshooting this before I have to roll the dice with a Hayward tech? Due to the flooding from the hurricanes, pool tech support is a long lead item!

THANKS!

Welcome to TFP.

That sounds like an OmniPL box and not Omnilogic box.

What version of the Omni SW do you have in the box?

Let's see if @ChrisLPC has seen that problem.

YEA sorry it’s an OmniPL.

I’m running the most recent firmwares to my knowledge

Show me the comm wiring to the pump and Omni please.
@ChrisLPC here is the comm wiring. As mentioned I'm currently swapped back to standalone mode so I’m simulating the “correct” configuration adjacent. I also have the first DIP switch up, which would go back down when Changing to Omni controlIMG_9366.jpegIMG_9368.jpeg

Has your breaker been tripping to the pump? Is the green Phoenix contact seated completely on the Omni for the pump comm wire? After a factory reset does the firmware rollback to an earlier version and you have to upgrade again?

@ChrisLPC there has been no tripped breakers other than manually turning off when messing around. I have noticed at panel power up, there is a cycle of 3 or 4 clicks, sounds like relay activation cycle, but seems normal

I popped off the green terminal block on both sides and reseat the 3 wires and it didn’t fix the issue. I don’t think it’s a connection issue with the block because it does communicate momentarily at times.

With respect to firmware, I just received this brand new panel last week and it came loaded w the newest firmware, after checking for OTA updates at initial launch everything was up2date. The firmware shown hasn’t rolled in the 2x i tried a factory reset but I didn’t check it each time.

I’m at a loss. Even when the pump is “connected” it’s response to commands was painfully slow

OK thanks for that feedback. This is a bummer. Its a brand new panel...im hoping this would be covered under warranty? Any suggestions here?

I spoke w Hayward and they want a tech to come out and thats a min $150 service call...I know the tech, after the basic troubleshooting Ive already done isnt going to be able to fix it on the spot anyway so its gonna be a pull, return, wait, reinstall fiasco anyway...since this was a DIY install, labor will not be covered so id rather just skip the hoopla if possible with Hayward directly
