EasyTouch Upgrade to Intellicenter Issues and Help Request

I've had a "Rube Goldberg" automation system setup for 6+ years using an Autelis controller. Since Autelis is no longer in business, I opted to finally upgrade my legacy (circa 2011) EasyTouch panel to an Intellicenter panel. The install went fairly smoothly with no big issues with the remove, replace and reconnect process. However, after I created a Pentair account and attempted to configure the panel for my system, things went very wonky.

I've read nearly every TFP forum thread regarding this upgrade and just can't figure out what is wrong. I've double and triple checked the panel and relay wiring and nothing seems wrong. Here's my basic setup: A single body pool with a Pentair VS pump, an IC 40 SWG, a single Pentair automated valve to move between skimming and floor cleaner. (See my signature block for other info.) The issue(s) is when I turn on the "Filter/Pool" via the app, the IC40 gets power but the pump doesn't run. If I go to the pump on the app and turn it on directly, the pump comes on and so do all my Intellibright lights! The system worked just fine for 12 years with the EasyTouch panel so I believe I've mucked up software configuration. What am I doing wrong ? Any help is greatly appreciated!! (Attached is a pic of my relay wiring.)

tico,

For the IC40 to run, all you need to do is close the Pump/Filter relay..

Not as simple when you want the pump to run, as several things must happen.

You can not be in the SERVICE mode
The system must be in AUTO
A Circuit must be on.. Usually the Pool Circuit, but it can be any Circuit
The Circuit that is on must have a speed assigned. (Like Pool = 1500 RPM)
The pump "Type' must be correct. Note... On the EasyTouch, is you change the pump type it will wipe out any assigned speeds, so you have to do it first..
If your IntelliFlo has a display, it must show "Display not Active".. This means the Automation is in control.

Thanks,

Jim R.

JimR,

Thanks. I've checked my current configuration. I've got the Pump type set to VS; I've got the Pool Circuit assigned to the Pump and 1600 rpm set; the display on the pump says: "Display not Active"... .

OOPS! I just discovered that the Pump was "somehow" assigned to the "Lights" circuit. I must not have hit "Update" or "Save" when making that assignment. I reassigned the pump and it appears as though it is working now. Thanks!

Next question, How to I configure my automatic valve to move so I can activate the floor cleaner and set the pump to 2500 RPM when that valve is set?

Cheers,
Tico

Tico,

As far as I know, you never assign 'pump' to anything.. As an example.. You would assign a speed to the Pool Circuit.. Like Pool = 1500 RPM..

I assume you have the actuator connected to either the A or B valve port..

You then need to assign the Circuit to A or B.. As in A = Cleaner, and then you would Set Cleaner to 2500 on the pump page.

So, when you turn on the cleaner circuit, the A valve would move and the pump would increase its speed to 2500 RPM.

Thanks,

Jim R.

As of right now the pump and SWCG are running as I needed. The actuator is connected to Valve port A. I will work on getting my system configured properly today. Not an intuitive GUI. Thanks for your help!
You are correct, not very intuitive.

Are you programming from the intellicenter2.com web server? I find it a little bit easier than at the panel.

You can see below, I have a feature circuit set for my cleaner. The valve is assigned to the cleaner circuit, so that whenever I toggle the circuit on, the valve rotates. And then below that you can see I have the cleaner circuit associated with a speed for the pump.

JimR & Turbo1T,

Finally, I believe I understand the dyslexic logic of the Pentair Intellicenter. I've got my pool pump working as before with an AM & PM skim/SWCG and a midday Floor Cleaner run. :D

Greatly appreciate the help getting me pointed in the right direction. Next project is to replace the dead/dying GloBrite lights. They lasted <3years.😬

Good deal.

My globrites lasted just under 4 years. I had one replaced under warranty during year 2, and it failed again about 2 years later. I replaced with Microbrites earlier this year. I may have tried the latest version of Globrites, but I was not convinced that I would get the latest version of them, that supposedly has been updated to correct the issues that cause the housings to split.

T1T,

Based on TFP experiences, I'm also going to try the MicroBrite lights to replace the crappy GloBrites. Seen a couple of videos where folks have slathered silicone caulk around the MicroBrites before installing them as a protective layer. Might try that technique. Good news is I only have 3 lights to remove & replace.

From everything I see posted here the Microbrites are as crappy as the GloBrites.

I would try the new updated GloBrites over the Microbrites.

Look for the blue gasket on the new Globrites and a 2024 manufacturing date.. In 2024 Pentair released an improved GloBrite light that a blue gasket and black end cap (left side), with improvements to the electronics inside to fix the failures the lights have been having.
