Alliance oh
The motor is blowing warm air out below on/off switch while pump is on? This is a brand new pump but I just noticed it today. No bubbles anywhere. There are vents there so maybe I just never noticed? Any help would be appreciated!

Welcome to TFP.

Modern pumps have fans in the back to cool the motor.

Wow..have had this pool for years and idk why but i never noticed! New pump tho so maybe thats why!

Old pump probably did not have a cooling fan.

Also my psi is around 18…good? 27 ft round

What type of filter?

When was it last cleaned?

What is the filter clean PSI?

Different pumps with different flow will cause different filter PSI.

One type of motor has an internal fan with vents in front and in back.

Air gets pulled in from the front vents and blown out the back vents.

The other type of motor is called TEFC.

TEFC stands for Totally Enclosed Fan-Cooled, which is a type of electric motor that has an enclosure that prevents outside air from circulating inside the motor.

The motor's frame has cooling fins that an external fan blows air over to cool it down.

The motor's windings are protected from external air by a cover on the non-shaft side.

The fan is mounted on the back and covered by a shroud.

We recommend filters be cleaned when pressure rises 25% from clean pressure.

Your filter should be cleaned.

I would test is your pool passes a Overnight Chlorine Loss Test and if you have algae clogging your filter. I am sure your water is clear and, yes, algae can be in clear water.
Will be closing soon so will clean it then. I thought that may be why it was high. Alot of learning with a pool! Thank you!
