I had the weirdest thing happen Sunday. My system goes on at 7:00 am everyday and runs for about 8 hours. (Overkill, I know.
) Soooo, Sunday morning I'm outside cleaning up bit and the pump kicks on as it should. After abut 30 minutes I think I'm hearing sucking sounds. I see the Weir door on the skimmer is vertical as if there's no suction flow and verify there is no water flow through the return eyeball back into the pool. I shift the Three way Jandy valves and can hear there is indeed air in the suction lines. Quick as a 67 year old can move, I get to the pump and see the pump strainer basket is bone dry. I shut-her-down, and take a breath. open the vent on the cartridge filter and listen to it re-fil. Then open the strainer basket a bit and fill it with water as well. I restart the pump and watch. I see some air bubbles pass through the strainer basket from the suction lines, but within in minutes, everything is back to normal. The pump shut down at 2:00pm, like normal, without any further difficulty...What could have happened overnight that would cause that to happen? Where should I look?
