Hey I'm having a problem with my pool. It's an inground salt water pool. The pressure on my filter is usually at 18lbs. but lately it's been running between 25-30. I checked all skimmers and the basket in the pump. Cleaned out everything.... Also backwashed the filter really well. It starts out ok and then within a day it's back up. I then decided to open the filter...it's a hayward DE filter....and clean it out really well like when closing the pool. Ran into the same issue. Pressure is back up. I'm looking for suggestions on what to try next. Can a leak cause high pressure? Something stuck in the lines? I felt like something in the lines wouldn't do it b/c I'm pulling in water from 2 skimmers and 2 wall intakes.... Help....

Organics. That's my guess. You can't see them either. Only proper water testing with a TF-100, TF-Pro Series, or Taylor K-2006C test kit can help us confirm. Do you have one of those kits?

By the way .... welcome to TFP!

Thanks Pat! Appreciate the advice. I have a kit but with outdated solutions... In the mean time I'll get the water tested locally and see what they say. ;)

77,

Only one thing causes the filter pressure to quickly go up over a short period of time..

You have algae, even if you can't see it yet..

Killing algae, before you can see it, is much easier to do, that waiting until the pool turns green.

It does not matter what the pool store says, you need to do a SLAM.. The sooner you do it the sooner you can get your pool back..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks Jim! Appreciate that advice... I never knew algae could do this.... The pool looks clear so just assumed it was a mechanical thing... I'm going to jump on this tomorrow.

Just want to thank you guys for the advice! I'm going away for a few days so didn't want to do the formal SLAM process until I get my own kit, but in the mean time I did a simple water test and realized even though it looks clear, it was low on almost everything. So I added salt, stabilizer, shock and a little algaecide. Pressure is already down 5 lbs from where it was yesterday. I'm feeling confident that once I do the SLAM it will be in good shape.
