Use the end of a coffee stirrer or a very small spoon. You remember when Mcdonalds had coffee stirrers that were spoons? It is about 1/2 of one of those. You only need 1/10 of a gram, so the amount is smaller than a pinch of salt. Add a very small amount, do it in tiny increments. When the water turns red, continue the test from there.
 
If you used 10mL, yes, your FC is 4.

Okay! I just did the test. I added like 2 cups of liquid chlorine wascorins to the pool Math test is what I needed....I will check chlorine in the am

Too late tonight. Re-read the instructions here. Link-->Overnight Chlorine Loss Test

You need to do test at night, 30 minutes after the addition and the pump needs to be running those 30 minutes.

You also need to run pump overnight, or 30 minutes before morning test.

You need to test after sunset and before sunrise.
 
There are three positive indicators to SLAM
1) Visible algae / Cloudy pool
2) Failed OCLT
3) CC >=1

OCLT is a positive sign that you don't have algae.

Is there any visible algae? Does the pool water look like this?...Link-->How Clear is TFP Clear?

Finally CC. I did you a disservice. I apologize. I should have recommended that you get R-0003 in addition to the 870/871. The 003 is what you use to test CC. Do you have 003 in your kit? If not order some. R-0003 DPD #3 Reagent

My kit does have the 003 so that's good
I did test that as well

the algae we have seen has gotten way way better , each day is more and more faint
The oclt was good and CC is good too

What do you think? It's too late now but I could send pictures of the pool tmrw in daylight...

And I will fill out the form you sent earlier
