Added Defender but still not bonded

You can widen the expansion joint and run the wire in there for much of the way. Then you just need to cut the concrete from the expansion joint to the skimmer and cut a bit of concrete out by the skimmer so you can dig down and make the connection on the back of the skimmer.

What is the drain grate I boxed on orange for?

I night dig down by the yellow line and see how thick the concrete is and if you can dig under the slab to get to the skimmer.

Look at this thread where @Casey trenched under the concrete to connect new PVC to her skimmer...

You only have one skimmer?

Open up the skimmer cover and take a picture looking down at the skimmer.
Yea, just one skimmer… here’s a pic of the skimmer and one of the run to the equipment, if that matters.

Side note: With help from Pool Math, my water is really nice! Even if we can’t use it 😅

I realized I didn’t answer your question about what’s in your orange box, it’s drainage to capture rain runoff. I have a few of them around the perimeter of the pool deck and patio off camera.

@ajw22 curious about your thoughts here.

I pitched the skimmer plate idea to an electrician this week, and he did a test. He took a piece of metal and tied a bonding line to it, tossed it in the water, then tied the copper line to the existing bonding line at the equipment pad… no change. Does that negate the skimmer plate theory at that point?
