I'm leary about letting someone's dog in my pool. We are in Phoenix so I don't want to be selfish. Maybe it'd do the dog really well and make it and the dog owner's day. Do you allow dogs in your "pebbletec (like)" pool? I guess it's not likely to ruin much, just more organic materials? If the pool chemistry is on par should I worry about anything in particular? It's not that it'd be on a regular basis afterall. thx!

I have had 3 dogs (55lbs, 75lbs, and 90lbs ... one golden doodle and two black labs) in my pool all at once (my dog is the doodle, the other dogs belong to my neighbor and come over for "playdates" often). Aside from finding dog hair in my skimmer hairnets, it did zilch to the chemistry. Unless Godzilla shows up angry, no dog will do any kind of damage to a plaster pool.

I say let the doggie in ... the biggest issue will be if it is not a swimmer you'll have to be mindful of helping the dog in and out of the pool. Just like children, NEVER EVER NEVER leave a dog alone with a pool. They can drown just as easily as any kid.

I’ve got an 80lb Golden Retriever that goes in the pool by himself every day in the summer. Once he’s in the pool, my wife and I throw a tennis ball into the deep end and he swims to get it. He can do this for about an hour until he’s exhausted. He has such a great time it’s fun to watch him.

His hair floats on the surface of the water and gets caught in the skimmer sock. I haven’t noticed any ill effects on the pool of him going in the pool daily.
